This is question for Pixoto team:

I am interested how many votes (users) is needed for you to decide to make a change on site or that is not possible by users request?

For example - for decision to make all "Photograpy" categories only for real photos and all photo montages / composites moved to Digital art to make competition more fair so photographers compete against other photographers and digital artists against digital artists?

Just another thought on this...
How strictly would the team define composites?
Some of the most "common" newborn shots are composites to a degree.. .in that you take a clear photo of the background...then have mom or dad with a hand on baby so he or she is safe within that sling or prop.....then composite the two images so that the hand isn't visible... Although that is still in a real setting, taken with the same lighting etc.
Or, let's a say a photo where to straighten or crop it wider, you might clone in some background... or pull a portion of the same background from a different image in the same setting just to make the composition more pleasant. Like, the best person's smile was a close crop, but you want that smiling person in the photo with more of the beautiful scenery (real scenery where she was actually photographed within moments)- so you just merge two images from the same photoshoot.
Clearly there is a slope.
It might be a slippery one is all I'm saying.
I know that at the end of that slope are some of the seriously composited images that have been discussed at length...pulling from 3 or 4 scenes that aren't even related to eachother...
but it would be hard to moderate that slope.

In this image of mine for example...In the original image, daddy's hand is just touching baby's head on the right side of the photo... I used a different image from the same shoot within seconds of this one (where daddy was supporting baby from a different angle) to just put in the side of the bonnet and the white background. Same baby, same shoot, same lights....but technically a composite.

Good point Sandra, but I don't think images like that would be a problem - we have here "pure image" badge so imho images like that shouldn't be marked as pure and that is it, also:
- images where small portion is cloned (if something is in scene that is distracting focus from subject - like hand in your case or lets say a bird in sky etc...)
- time lapse photos (also composites but real scene)
- stacked macro (composite but real)
- HDR photos...

and probably some more examples, but these are real scenes that are edited in minor way or merged to get more details - photos but not "pure photos" (I think that is purpose of "Pure photo" badge ).

Composites I am talking about are very different from mentioned examples as those are scenes that never happened or existed - when you take few photos and create scene that didn't happen than that is Digital art.

Example - Photo of real scene of baby and a tiger in jungle where you delete rope that is holding a tiger is a photo (child abuse but photo :) ) - not pure but photo, and image where you take baby from one picture, tiger from other and jungle background from third and compose scene where baby is by the tiger in jungle - that is digital art - pure and simple. If image is changed in a major way to create scene that didn't happen that is digital art and it shouldn't compete with photos (pure or not pure photos)...

Of course you are right... I'm just playing devils advocate a bit...
you know everytime there's a rule there's a loophole...

No problem, you asked excellent and valid question, and there will always be some that will go trough loophole but at this point situation is ridiculous...

I am just trying to see what is needed to make competition more fair for real photographers - I think some of those Digital artist don't even have a camera or personal stock photos... but that is discussed in other thread...

Matko, I am not aware of any specific number of people or votes that is required. I submit the ideas to the team for consideration, if they like them they use them. I will submit the idea (sorry still catching up on email)
