How does Pixoto make money. Just curious to know because every week assuming they give out all 13 prizes of 150$), it will cost 1950 per week and 7800$ per month.

Hope you understand the concern that I am raising.

Currently we don't have any revenue - but we are working on several initiatives that will solve that. That said our priority is to build an engaged and happy user base for the time being.

I made earnings from a sale of a print that hasn't been posted to my Paypal, and all attempts to find out why have been ignored. Perhaps this is how they pay out prize money, if they actually do.

Turns out I am correct. They don't send your money unless there is at least 75.00 in your account, and then they hold it for 60 days. They get paid for your sales, but you don't is basically the way it works.

It's a real shame, because I was enjoying this site. Now I am in the process of deleting my photos and when I am done, I will close my account.

Humm....just a bi late in receiving your reply..... I just deleted all my images because I was not satisfied with the way things were going. Maybe I am the odd one out. But I really dont want to get into a situation where there is no clue about what will happen to the images that I submit here. If the revenue model is vague or unclear, I fear this could lead to somewhere where I dont want my images to be.

(unless the owner of the site is super super rich [with all due respect to people running Pixoto] and can afford to give away 8000$ every month for nothing)

I hope the images I delete will get deleted form the database also and not just my profile page.

Thanks

p.s: Is there a way to delete my account also?

Sajid - I'm sorry to hear that. We are a well funded company - and can easily cover the weekly prize money (see http://www.socaltech.com/pixoto_raise...) . We have very clear ideas on how we will generate money (this will include stock photography, advertising and "pro" level accounts). We do not have the right to use your images for any purpose you don't authorize and any stock photography efforts that we engage in will be strictly opt-in by the photographer.

I'll think you'll find that Pixoto will become an increasingly valuable place to have your images.

That said - if you would like to delete your account please send me an email at jason [at] pixoto.com and I will have that done.

Best

Jason

Hello Ken, I'm sorry if I was unclear. Please e-mail Jason@Pixoto.com since he can make earlier payment to your account.

I HAVE made myself perfectly clear. NO! You have accepted payment for MY work. You have in place unacceptable and senseless rules for paying me my portion. NONE of us should have to wait for or beg for OUR money. I will be glad to send him or you a "thank you" email when I see my payment, and when I know that I am not getting special treatment because I am being a nuisance. You get paid for our work, then you don't pay us; you are crooks.

Like I said, I can and will cost you far more than the amount that you owe me. You chose to fuck the people that are earning you money, rather than compensate us for our work. Bad advertising is far more effective than good advertising; and you are getting MY money's worth.

Ken. I'm sorry for the confusion. We do not do automatic payments before $75 but I'm happy to do a manual payment if you request it. However, since this is a public forum and anybody can change their name at will I need to have the request from you in email.

More confusion I was under the impression that we were already submitting our images to stock? so when is this going to happen? and how can you be working on new things when the old ones don't work.

Hi Graham - I'm not sure what you mean. What is the issue you are experiencing?

Nothing works Jason, it's just one bug after another and all you seem interested in is placing more and more restrictions on your contributors, just look at the list of the complaints that are appearing on a daily basis, how are you expecting to make this site competitive when you are driving the people that matter away?

I do not wish to sell any of my photos as stock, and I do not wish to sell any canvas; and I have marked my photos as such. Yet, if you click on the buy canvas button on my photos, it takes you to the place to buy a canvas.

Hello Ken, I took a look at your portfolio and I do not see any of your photos for sale either as stock or for Canvas sale. You as owner can buy your own photos on canvas, and that is why when you click on buy canvas button you are able to do it (but only if you are signed in). But nobody else can do it. You can check it if you sign out from your account then open your profile page, and you should not see "shopping cart" icon over photos.

If this doesn't help, please let me know.

when you click on the buy canvas it is saying you want to buy your own canvas... not someone elses that is not for sale. seems that you own your own rights and can buy for yourself and pay the full amount. If I want to buy a canvas, pay full value and ship to a customer in the US I can do that and cut Pixoto out of the middle. Pixoto doesn't care. everyone is happy
