My last picture, yesterday was running in the upper 600's with around 85 total votes. Today is running on the mid 500's with around 40 votes. What happened?

All fast moving images get looked at here by the image police --kind of like the fashion police -- because there is a good change it is an image that is in the wrong category.

And if it is, WHAM, your image gets dropped down into the abyss of starting from scratch.

Problem is, if you have a pro account and are automatically assured that you get 100 duels, they -- the complainers -- wait until you get close to that -- as you mentioned in your post -- to notify Pixoto to the fact that your image is in the wrong category.

A you a pro member?

Yes, if your image is on the Leaderboard, it will attract attention especially from other contenders that are on the running.

Other members reporting on images that flout the rules needn't happen if Pixoto is proactive in checking for duplicates, wrong categories and copyright infringements.

It's Pixoto's policy not to act on it unless there's a report. Or in some cases, the report button doesn't give results so some rule breakings are reported in this forum.

I had several images recategorized too, lost points as well as awards. It happens to most of us. Now, I'm careful on the categories next time I submit.

Was your photo recategorized by Pixoto to a new "category"? That will start the photo back at 0 in the new category and sometimes a photo will not score as well in voting in that new category.

No I am not a pro member. Even though I was getting ready to become one, your replay gave me all the reasons not. As a matter of fact I will stop posting altogether, and I'll make sure a lot of people know about this. Why am I on the wrong category any way?

For example, your photo has flowers and butterflies--which category did you post your photo to? Flowers or animals/insects?

Do you have a link?

What category did you put it into?

Two of mine where #1 and #10 on my leaderboard and had a picture of a bee in them.

Re-categorizing them destroyed their positions and they never recovered.

I'm thinking about getting some dead bees and adding them to every flower image I have along with bringing a spray bottle with me so the flowers of dripping wet with water drops.

Bridgette,

I know you mean well but this is such a repetitive issue here it really smells.

Thank of all the damage this site has done to photographers who have earnestly tried to get feedback. Or who have risked getting stung or bit by insects just to get a bee in focus on a flower.

From a photographer's perspective, the bee is enhancing the image.

From Pixoto's perspective, the pros making money from their flower shots have the right to complain and at the right moment when someone does really with with a flower shot that just happens to have a been in the picture.

The bee wasn't what I was shooting. The flower with a bee on it was what I was.

That pic and the other pic with the bee on it have never recovered..

I am only noting Pixoto's rules (unfortunate ones that we have all been "stung" by) as the likely reason his photo has a different vote count and score.

If you will note, I actually just made a suggestion a short while ago for Pixoto to ease up and allow photos to be placed in two (2) categories like other stock photo companies allow or insist on. Their current system is ticking people off and some are leaving. I hardly know any members on Pixoto but already know of a couple who left this last week alone and you can see by some of the postings here, people are asking to close their accounts and delete their photos.
