Hi, one of my images that I put on in March and went nowhere really has suddenly become the highest scoring of my images. It says against it that it is in the Top 3% of all time but I have had no awards at all for it and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is going on and how this has happened?

My conjecture is the image did not fair well in the first 30 days following being posted. At least in comparison with others posted in the same period. Frequency awards are only Daily, Weekly and Monthly. Although there might be some annual awards I'm not familiar with - but this image is less than a year old. So your image had a winning streak which probably started when it was between 20 and 40 days.

Newer images will duel against this image as they climb the ladder, and if you consistently beat the newer ones you see a gradual change in score.

Thanks - that's really helpful. I thought it had been paused though - can they still dual once they are paused?

Yes, they can. Just less likely.

Of course, according to Pixoto, an image's score is not supposed to substantially increase after"x" time frame, which is why the image is paused by Pixoto. I have maintained for a very long time that indeed they DO increase, which is why they should not be paused so early in the voting. This just proves that point....

Yes - its not like it just went up a few points. I think it was more like 300 points it jumped!

Hi Sarah, checking your image's imageduel history page, I could see image was submitted on April 26, and it was paused same day. Then it was unpaused on August 18th and on August 19th it reached near current score and it kept dueling gaining a little bit of score since then.

Daily awards are issued next day from day of submission of image, weekly awards are issued next week from submission of image and monthly award are issued next month from submission day. Since your image had small score (because it was paused) at the time each award was assigned your image didn't get any awards.

As you can see on About us page: https://www.pixoto.com/about

" We use statistics so by definition we are not 100% confident that the image should be paused and so to address this issue we added the "get more votes" feature (the "play" button on the leaderboards). Under certain circumstances Paused images may still be placed in to duels and may be unpaused automatically."

I hope this helps.

Thanks - that's quite clear. Seems like the stats aren't quite working though as I now have an image in the top 3% of all time with no Awards. Doesn't seem quite right but I'm not worried about it, its only a hobby and just good to push yourself a little.
