I have a picture that is spot #32 in the Novice category, but someone else has a picture that is in spot #37 & they received an award today, but I have YET TO BE RECOGNIZED! Can you please tell me why that is?? I think it VERY unfair that when you get "lucky" with ONE picture in ONE category, but are still very much a NOVICE, that all of a sudden you are thrown in with CLEARLY PROFESSIONALS! I have only had my Nikon 5200 for literally less than 3 months and have had NO PROFESSIONAL training whatsoever, soooooo wouldn't that be what the NOVICE CATEGORY is for??? I think the rules on the NOVICE CATEGORY are waaaaay off base. PLEASE fix this problem and realize that is is very discouraging for us who are TRULY NOVICES! I didn't realize that was the way it would be or I would have never entered anything @ this point other than the NOVICE CATEGORY....

Sherry, I am checking & have found 2 that were higher in the Novice category, than others who received awards, but still I was taken out of the Novice category by my second day. I guess I'm confused because I thought that the photos that were allowed to be entered into the Novice category would still qualify, but I received no recognition after my first day. So I see someone who got 5 awards for September 17, but I got none, and all of her photos for those awards were ranked lower than mine. Then on September 18 or thereafter she received 13 more awards, and I got none even though my 2 images were ranked higher than those. It just seems a little unreasonable that the images I entered in the Novice category would be discounted based on one win in another category even though those photos ranked higher than people who are still in the Novice category. So my question is do the photos I entered into the Novice category all
need to be resubmitted in another place and if so, why were they not judged while they were in the Novice category?

Hi Debbie if you look at http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra... that is all of the images submitted on September 16th , the day you submitted the self portrait. I am counting 41 entries with higher scores. All awards are given out at the category level, so we have to look at the entire category when trying to determine placement. There is one image with the same score of 493, Pixoto does not display decimal points, but they are there and help determine ranking.

Your Twins image was submitted on the 17th, so you can see the results from that day's submissions at http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra... and I am seeing it in 53rd place in the category for the day.

The scores do keep changing, your images will keep dueling so that you have a shot at the weekly, monthly and yearly prizes as well. In order to get an accurate placement for daily weekly monthly etc you need to look the day after the contest ends at the results. Images shift position as they win and lose duels.
