I am just curious so in no way complaining :) Promise ;) But... I was curious how the placements are calculated. Take first and second place for example (at anytime but I noticed it when I was actually in second)
1st. 107 duels / 76 wins (71%)
2nd. 108 duels / 80 wins (74%)

So if it's not based on the % of wins then how is it calculated? I just want to better understand the specs. Again really not complaining cause I'm happier than a lark at how well my pic has been received. Nothing else I ever posted did good at all. LOL

Hey Amanda!

Just like Google wouldn't share the specifics of their search algorithms, we can't share the details of how we rank images based on the votes. There are a variety of reasons for this including our desire to protect the Intellectual Property we have invested heavily in developing, preventing players from cheating, etc.

That said, I can tell you that votes are weighted differently mainly based on what we know about the image it is up against. For example, if an image is competing against an image we know has a high score after many votes and wins against that image... It deserves to earn more "points" for that win than if it had gone up against a relatively new image we weren't sure was reliable. The same is true if the image won, but won against an image with a lower ImageScore than in the original example.

The bottom line is that two images could both have 107 ImageDuels and 80 wins, but they likely would not have the same ImageScore as one likely won against "harder" images.

I hope that helps!

Justin, since you seem to be the the man, how about:

if (player on TopTen) !evalute otherTopTen? It would help to have a more unbiased ranking, since a player whose pic is number 5 gets to evaluate a pic that's number one against one that is number a zillion will probably vote for the one zillionth just to protect his/her pic. And I got a bunch of other suggestions, but darn! is hard to get a hold of y'all in private! carlos /at/ castrox *dot* com just in case.

My two cents!
