I uploaded a photo in the category People. The first duel was against an image from April 2013. Don't try and tell be it's been boosted by the tog - the account has been inactive since March 2014 so please try and come up with a better excuse......

This is why people don't bother with Pixoto any more.

Same again today - this time against an image from Dec 2013. Why are they not duelling against recent images?

I just had that, my image lost against a shot that is two years old and NOT compliant to rules, i.e, only 640 pixels.
It is a very good picture no doubt but what is the point of a duel against a 2 year old shot of someone who has not been active for ages?

Well don't hold your breath here - they will probably come up with some bizarre response that makes sense only in Pixotoland........

There is always a chance that an image will get additional duels.  We do not take photos out of the circulation in the duel system.  Due to annual awards we are getting A LOT more duels than normal so it becomes increasingly likely that older images will get duels.

I hope this helps.

No - it really doesn't help, Jason - that makes no sense. If as Pixoto claims there are thousands of photos being uploaded, then the new images should be matched against other new images - not from dead accounts.

I'm sorry that you find this frustrating and if in fact we could have a rating system that worked by just playing new images against each other we probably would.  However, in order to make sure that the rating system is consistent across time periods it is a necessity that a wide variety of images from various time periods get played.

That's fair since they give out daily, weekly, monthly and yearly awards.

Sorry Jason, I don't get it... what do the annual awards for 2014 have to do with pics from 2013? Why do I get TWICE two times a duel against a 2013 shot? during a time when the weekly challenge is birds right now?

I'd like to point out that this has only started happening over the past few months or so. The lack of logic here is astounding. And why would a new image automatically get duelled to an image rated "1 in 1000" that has had over 157 duels?

If the person resubmits the image, regardless of the date it was initially uploaded it starts over with zero points and zero awards...that levels the playing field in my mind.

The issue is new images duelling images that are 18 months+ old that are coming from dead accounts - ie: with no activity from the member in over a year. These are not resubmitted images.

Woodstock, you are right. I have found that 4 times now, account has not moved for more than a year and it still comes up. Please, before I get so frustrated that I get our of here where can I find your pics? I'm curious now, in a positive way.

I don't link my profile here - I received really nasty comments from a couple of togs here - I actually left for a while because I decided it was too toxic here ;-)

Jason, I fully agree with Woodstock. This only started a few months ago.

So something must have changed ...
The question is what and why?

If more and more people are adding images--it makes absolutely no sense that an image that has not been dueled for a couple years would suddenly show up in a duel again. That an image that has already received awards for two years ago, would be dueled again?? Silly! I, too, have noticed--as one of my images suddenly got stirred back in--after a two year break?? Why? With so many in Pixoto and so many images being added each day--why bring in an image from years past. This has NOT happened until recently.

It happened again today, I just uploaded an image and guess what, it was dueled almost immediately against a high scoring one from 2013 :( This is no longer a coincidence!

Maybe they don't have the volume of images being uploaded that they'd like.....
