Eliminate a category from our voting choices?

Can we eliminate a category from our voting choices? I check back with Pixoto every once and again... and I fully understand that people love flowers. That said, I really have no interest in voting on one flower against another, over and over and over and over and over and over and over again...

How about the voter get to exclude one category, and that category is no longer in the duels from which one would vote?

It would get me to come back and vote a bit....

Sorry flower guys and Gals, not personal, just not my cup of tea.

Hello Alan, in order to ensure all categories will get votes, all users need to vote for all categories (and contests too).

Oh but if it were so Jsenka. Instead many of us sort of tune out... When one is looking at images of choice, one tends to look, and vote, for much longer periods of time.

I find it interesting that they won't allow a single category to be skipped EXCEPT nudes and boudoir... and that is one category that I have NEVER voted for because they don't come up in my duels.... yet I have allowed mature content.... so who does vote there? because I can't. the only time I can view them is to go to the leaderboard.... and even then some images are blocked with the cover and need to be clicked on to see. not all, just a good number in all categories. Makes no sense to me at all.

I had to check the mature content again..looks like when I cleared my cache it reverted to no mature content... guess I have to do that periodically. which brings me to another topic... why if I have no mature content I can see ANY of the images that ought to be blocked? this feature doesn't seem to work one way or the other.

People complain that there are hardly any votes in the nude and budoir category.
No wonder, I get, MAYBE, to vote on one of those 2 times a week if that. I guess I am not old enough for that. Do you have to be over 60 to vote on those? I have one more year to vote. :-)

John, Why yes you do have to be over 60 to see these pics. The reason is due to plastic surgery and Viagra. All the old folks have the right parts, but nobody remembers what to do with them anymore ,,,At that point who cares what you see!...I'm still surprised that folks aren't submitting macro nude shots into the Nature Up Close category.

If everyone had one choice to turn off, we would not have many votes in the duels, so NO we need to keep all the categories to vote..However, we need to separate insects from animals, just not fair when up against say big cats and eagles, saying that, regardless of what photo I vote on content clarity and focus always helps..

Len, all due respect your comment represents wrong headed thinking... The issue has become that many of us simply don't vote at as we are numb to the imagery which we find, well, numbing.

I'd rather have people voting on image duals every day , sans 1 category, than staying away in droves out of shear boredom and not voting at all...

Is there a way I only vote for nudes or mature content?

heheehee the category I would like to eliminate from my voting is 'Uncategorized' . it is the most useless category, and it wouldn't make much difference to the duelling. the other that I think can be eliminated completely is the Instagram and mobile one... anything that relies on the honesty of the submitter like that, and there is no way to tell if it is done on a phone or not... is useless category. I have problems with the Traditional Art one too, there are so many digitally altered photos put in there pretending to be 'artwork' or paintings, it is disgusting.

I like the idea of having flowers separate too. But the argument makes since they are there to vote along other categories. The other thing is since many block the nudes and boudoir, the contributors who add artistic nude and boudoir are not benefitting from the same fairness in voting for all the pretty flowers. So I agree, there are way tooooooooooooooooooo many flowers in the duels. I can't tell one from the other anymore and started skipping the duels on the same ones i see over and over.

What gives with the "single flower" category. It always seems to be full of pics with several flowers in them...And then the "Flowers" category is full of single flower pics.

Is that what the word "Pixoto" means in Latin?...Mixed up flowers....{Just kidding, please no one get your blooms in a wad.)

Tim, you have been here long enough... Sub-categories means nothing. they will all duel together anyway. I am not even sure why Pixoto requires you to put a sub-category in when you upload... if you don't, it automatically reverts to Un-categorized. Either the subs are needed or they are not. Pixoto needs to make up it's mind on that, it is too confusing the way it is now.

Hi Joyce, I actually agree with you. My comment about the "mixed up flowers" was an attempt to illustrate how messed up the sub-categories are by pointing out how frequently they are ignored. I think the effect I was going for is known as, "Illustrating the absurd by being absurd". ..At least I didn't mention politics or religion :-p

I love the novice category as well.... it's not about the quality of the photography... it's about the subject matter...

I enjoy seeing people... clothed, nude, whatever.. it's all just humanity.. I enjoy most everything I look at in most all the categories..

It's looking at flowers over and over again has put me at the place where I just don't really want to bother voting... it's simply JeJune ... is there anyone who enjoys a book on a subject in which he or she has no interest? A movie? TV Show? Sporting event?

If the floral subject has as many folks voting as contributing, I don't think there will be a vacuum if some can exclude it...

I don't mean to insult anyone...truly, I'm sure my taste in imagery isn't for everyone.. and certainly hope it isn't, but when the subject has my attention, I linger as do most. I try to take the time to write constructive comments in the novice categories...

I wish just once, Pixoto would heed the call of paying customers.. just once. it is not an outlandish request..

How about excluding some members' photos from my voting pool. I can name a few like someone with hundreds of violin photos, or certain members obsessed with a certain blue lily.

In short, can I blacklist some members so I can't vote for their images anymore? There's needed be a way to at least exclude, umm maybe 5? Yes! Let's start with 5 members' photos we don't want to vote on!!

Hoping for Jasenka to thank me on my suggestion.

it would be nice if we could do that, since there is the rule that we are supposed to skip the duel if we know the photographer...a short-list would be quite handy.

I hope the Violin guy is not ill. But I agree with you guys about banning certain Member's images from one's duel presentations. But the offending parties are probably Pro members and would not get their 100 promised duels if enough folks banned them.

I think it would make some folks think outside their usual boxes and routines and maybe come up with some interesting new stuff. And one could always check their profile page for any creative progress that would merit a return to one's duel viewing.

allowing a short-list really shouldn't cause a problem,, since we are supposed to be skipping anyway if we recognise the contributor. The short list would simply make the duels run faster since the 'known' entities would be by-passed.

Hi Shooting, as Joyce already explained, if you know who the image belongs to, by our rules, you should skip that duel. I'm not sure that you know each and every image one user submitted so there is no point in blocking one user if you can't recognize all images that belong to user.

I hope this helps.

but Jasenka... there are a number of users that have such a limited repertoire and style that it is quite easy to recognise them. I may not 'know' the exact image but I do skip if I recognise that subject and style (and particular Croatian street, or violin or waterdroplets on seed head.)

:-) Very happy that I don't have to see those violins....but I'm also a bit annoyed of the lack of fantasy some users have....photographing the same eagle, big cat ,flower, etc...and I thought the eye colors was a bit limited on some of these big cats?....anybody seen a tiger with blue eyes? Guess some of the members must bee pretty poor trying to ge a living out of Pixoto...... It's OK to post 5-6 photos during the week of a certain kind of object, but posting everyday for years? Get a life! (sorry if someone feels hurt, but.....)

The bottom line, however, is this.... Pixoto started out very interesting. An image that scored above the 500's was imminently copied and duplicated. If I see one more drop of water falling from midair, I'm going to throw up. Pixoto has turned into a site that only rewards certain "technical" elements, i.e. anything dropped into water, headshots of eagles, hummingbirds, water-sprayed flowers, plus,over- sharpened & over-saturated everything.... UG! The emotional and aesthetics relevance are void! Thank goodness, the epic "lone trail of smoke" has fallen by the wayside! LOL... So much fun to click on someone's "website" link and be taken to a page that does not exist or another photo-sharing page... Pixoto is what it is...
