duel against own inage ?

Many times I seen my own image challenge my another own image.
Which ever image wins, the other will drop in score. In a day i submitted an average of 10 images and most of the time they were in the 550-580 range, image_A beats image_B and image_B beats image_C and image_C beats image_A, all in the loop, making advancement very slow, only 1 or 2 sometimes hit >600 score. These images usually only make it for the Top 10-20% and only after the day (2nd day and after) they managed to climb up to the 600+ image score range.

eg

Can pixoto avoid 2 images from the same photographer duel against each other?

I am intrigued Ken - you do not have a PRO account, how are you seeing that your images are duelling against each other?

This aspect of Jason's answer remains to be clearly understood by little old me...

Hi gaiafrique,

I've replied to your comment in the other link.

Yes I do not have a PRO account but still able to view the most recent 3 ImageDuel history.
Please take a look at the following 2 photos of mine:
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

The 2nd photo was sbmitted yesterday and it has lost to the 1st photo, that makes the imagescore advancing to be slow, of course it can win another photo of mine and later lose agian in another of my own photo. I can only see the number of duels increasing but the score is not much...
In case the ImageDuel history "overflow" by the time you read this, I've captured a screenshot:

Hi Darcie, I've never seen any of my own photo appeared during voting, it should be the case for everyone.

I should have made clear when I see my own photo vs another photo of mine is when I viewed the ImageDuel history and NOT during voting.

Another vs own photo submitted an hour ago:

vs:

Both photo's ImageDuel history screenshot:

Since I noticed this, I've stopped hitting DuelBoost button all at one go, I need to plan which to click which one to wait and which one to un-pause so as not to conflict with another photo of mine. This reduces the number of duels and time consuming to monitor. The planning becomes complicated when reaching end of week or end of month, have to take into consideration the previous possible photos entitled for weekly/monthly award.

Within a short time already encountered 2 occurrence, 1 win - 1 lose. Wasting the DuelBoost and use up credits for it.

Any reply from pixoto staff?
The same issue is happening every moment!

Few of my pics submitted yesterday is hoovering between 580-600 imagescore. The moment it hits 600 it got pulled down by my own pic submitted today, The progress is very slow, I can feel the difference when I first joined and started on 10th Feb 3 wks ago, submitted afew and 3 went to top 10 easily, not sure if there's this issue but chances are very slim since I only got few pics that time but now I got 100+ pics.

The fix should be very easy, perhaps a 1 liner if-then-else statement:
if image1_photograhper = image2_photographer then skip_&_reselect_image2

Thanks Aroon for the reply. So pixoto already know this and they are letting this happen? This greatly discourage photographer to submit more photos a day.

It's not unexpected to have your own pics duel against your own pic. They are yours but they are individually competing to be the best pic of the day/week/month. Recently I have been posting mostly in sport and fitness so would expect one of my pics to compete against another of my pics in that category.

As I understand, algorythm that chooses which photo will compete which photo in duels doesn't choose photos by author. So if you post more photos in one subcategory, there is more chanse that your photos will compete one agains eachother. If you think of it, that is nothing unusual, IMHO.

I constantly get my shots dueled against shots I have entered days and weeks before, Ken, so this is nothing new to many of us. Your admission that you post 10 shots per day goes to the many threads that have complained about togs flooding the contest with their work on a daily basis. This is one contest where the argument that the more images you post the better your chances of having a winning shot for the day or week does not hold true. Perhaps you should scale back your 10 images per day, and, I think, you'll find you have better luck in attaining and keeping higher scores. Just a thought.

We definitely allow your images to play eachother - it's the only way to keep the competition fair. That said your image won't play each other until they get to the high 500s so that is probably the effect you are seeing.

Thanks Jason for the clarification. I came acorss a newly submitted image of mine with a score of 400 vs a few days old 690 image, the new image won while the older image suffer a heavy pts drop...can't remember exactly how many pts but it's not less than 5 for sure, not the usual 2-3pts dediction.

I'm new at pixoto and since Jason has clarified that vs own image is happening to everyone, the case is considered closed and answered.
Thanks everyone for the inputs, suggestion/tips and comments. :)
