I've been reporting a lot of DSLR photos in mobile photo category, I have doubts, Im not sure if Im right, some of the instagram photos are DSLR qualities. Unfortunately, yes, instagram deletes exif information, so I will never know if pictures submitted to instagram category are really from camera phones.

I'm sorry I dont have much knowledge of this instagram thing because i dont use it but I tried researching and found out that DSLR photos can be edited in instagram. So I think this is a clear disadvantage to mobile phone photography purists.

DSLR users already have their own playing field, IN FACT 15 categories. In the previous weekly challenge, one rule clearly states that "Photos must be shot with your MOBILE PHONE and uploaded using the Instagram connection"

Im not sure how would pixoto makes sure that photos edited in instagram are really taken from a mobile phone camera.

May I suggest too, that a separate rules for mobile photos be made. ( if there are rules already pls let me know the link) There are no specific rules for this category and I think mobile phone photography has a world of its own. and at least everyone who submits pictures on mobile photo category, even myself, know the boundaries.

on the good note, however, the integration of instagram in mobile photo category increases the cash prize for the winner and higher points for the top pictures of the week.

Your correct Jro, some member instead of sending it into the right category they try to cheat just only to satisfy their selves. i keep on reporting it but nothing happen, hoping this issue will be fixed from pixoto management.

You are right . Ppl are cheating here . how can someone take macro of Dslr Quality with so called SMARTPHONE MACRO LENSES . I was looking at Mustari's images and it shows 2.6 a . i think he is copy pasting camera pics over mobile pics in PHOTOSHOP , so he can hide PHOTO EXIF . It should be checked . Thats not fare at all .

I actually just saw and reported a few in the instagram category -and I could see the exif data underneath. I found it incidentally when looking at a person's profile, not from looking through the instagram category. I'm not sure if you can see the exif in all instagram shots, or if maybe people hide it?
One tell, even in basic exif data is the pixel size.

Sorry but they are not mobile phone camera photos no way in the world you can get that kind of quality, and if you use lightroom and some other photo manipulating programs you can edit the exif photo details.

Hi all, I got just Nokia Lumia 1020 phone yesterday and I have to say, 41 mega pixels rules...you can use manual settings even. I have post 1 photo to instagram and mobile-other today. That photo is 'pure" from camera using manual settings...wondering just what I can do with zooming and other options (and there is quite lot) in phone. So if you are using a little amount ps treatments...voila super photo!
Here is a photo, it isn't a good one, but straight from phone anyway

Don't underestimate the quality of cell phone photography; nowadays, you can shoot very high quality photographs and the photo editing apps are quite advanced, including apps from Adobe right on your phone. You can shoot the photo and edit it, resulting in wonderful, sharp images, all with a cell phone.

Given the quality of the cameras in many current cell phones, it may be time to just eliminate the cell phone category here on Pixoto. I don't think they need a separate category!

Being addicted to photography, I do use my phone camera if I am out and about without the DSLR and the quality is good in most situations, especially with the latest cameras and software...

edit exif photo detils?? I guess it can not be done. and for what I do that? (edit exif detil) ...

If you still do not believe, I attach the original photo before editing. and compare it with the edited photos. what there is exif change? if that all were not enough, I will send the original photo to your email address, to prevent the exif data changes. and you can analyze the authenticity of my photos
