Just wondering if anyone really makes any $$$ on Pixoto. Been there awhile now and never earned a dime. I'm high up on awards, great pictures...doesn't seem to matter.

The only people that make money on this site are Pixoto and cheats. I don't think this site is for serious stock photographers, at least it's not being run as a serious stock photography site.

Great Question...I am in no way a great Photographer, and I don't expect to earn money taking snapshots. I enjoy this site because it gives me something to do the pics I do Take...I would like to know about the pics which earn money, maybe I could learn something from them! A click button for "Top earning images" would be Great!...(Though I would imagine the down side would be evident as soon as a great photo was posted as having been sold I bet thousands of poorly done copycat images would flood Pixoto and we would all get pretty sick of them ruining or image duel expexprience.

I sold one of my mages yesterday on one of the big stock sites and my commission was $2.27 which is 5 times what Pixoto pay. If you want to sell your images you have to go for one or more of the proper stock sites but be prepared for the rejection slips as we;; as the acceptance slips. My comment from 4 months ago still stands.

My feeling is if you joined this site thinking you would be walking off with a pile of cash, that's not going to happen. I've been on this site going on three years in October and I've won seven weekly prizes that, in total, amount to less than $400. I honestly wish they would do away with the cash prize, and we would instantly get rid of the cheats that steal photos off the net and enter them in the contest, as well as those who come up with voter schemes to manipulate their pics to come out on top.

This is a great site if you like to pit your shots against some real pros and get some measure of how your work stacks up in the grand scheme of things. Of course there will always be people down voting your shots if they are behind you in the standings or see you moving up fast to overtake them. Just the nature of the beast when you offer cash incentives to people in countries where they think $400 is a pot of gold.

My advice is if you can put the notion aside of making alot of money on this site, and just enjoy the competitive nature of it, enter the challenges where you can earn substantial credits, and perhaps even make some friends, as I have, then the $50 or $75 dollars you might possibly make where everything comes together for you in that one week, will be secondary to the total enjoyment you can get from this site.

Just to let everyone know I've been on Pixoto for over a year and my earning to this date is just $1.75, of which I probably will never see b/c you must have to have a minimum amount to get paid. I've also discovered from other photographers who became my friends that it's really hard to get that #1 of the week b/c of all the cheaters with duel accounts and lots of friends voting their pictures up and yours down...I find that very discouraging. I've even become aware of photographers with double, triple and probably even more accounts using different names but most of us can see certain styles...and then when they accidently leave some of the photo info that's kind of off...and you realize. No money here but I've certainly had some fun as well as disappointment.

Hi Cheryl, we do have minimum payout but that is for automatic payment. If you want earlier payment (before your earnings reach minimum automatic payment) you can request it.
Please post information (or send to my e-mail jasenka@pixoto.com) of users with duplicate accounts, and any information you have about friendly up-voting and down-voting.

Not really bothered about making money, though it would be nice. I just like winning awards.

I have wondered about the money end of it myself. I do know that some people on this site, no matter what they create and/or produce within minutes of submitting they get tons of awards.

Doesn't mean they're making any money here though. Lots of folks don't even put their images into the Market :-)

Also, awards don't automatically equal images that people are willing to buy. I've been selling my photography for years and my most popular photos and my best-selling photos have mostly tanked here, even after repeated attempts.

Pixoto, in my opinion, is a lot like a casino game. You just never know how it's going to go and it's best to not take it very seriously :-)

Lenore: You are so right! The images that have actually sold for me, both in art shows and stores get the worst scores here. Makes no sense to me. One of my images had over 15000 unique views on the site that I left because it went bust. Here it couldn't make 500. LOL!
