Allow members to categorize themselves or their work as professional or amateur. Structure competitions within pro & amateur categories.

Hey Ken,

This is something we talked about quite a bit when we were first starting. We ultimately decided not to go this route as the amateur category probably wouldn't contain the best images. Our goal is help people discover the BEST images from around the world. The easiest way for us to do this is to compare them all against each other.

What problem are you trying to solve with this suggestion?

Thanks!

Justin

amateur or pro doesnt matter to me.....everyone here has a camera and on any given day the image you capture could be the best of your life. no need to distinguish between the two.

I agree, amateur or pro doesn't matter. I'm not a pro but really enjoy photography since I was 5-6 years old (my dad passed me the virus). Let everybody enjoy the site. It's also a great source of inspiration and a challenge to duel against real very good pros. It is very motivating for everybody who wants to increase their skills. Keep shooting and enjoy

I agree with Tom...a good photograph is a good photograph, whether taken by a professional or an amateur! I love having my photos compete against the 'professionals' =) Shows me were I can improve my skills.
