But maybe not in the duel window, as some people will start voting for their favorite equipment

We display the EXIF data on the image detail page/overlay. We won't display it in the duel overlay.

Could you add more info in the Exif Data being displayed like:
Date and Time Taken
Lens Model
Filename (Need this to tag my photos that they were submitted already to Pixoto)

Thanks,

This is a great reason to have the original file name displayed. I hope they do this. It would be a big help.

Good point Will but I think most folks will not know how to do that or the ones we caught already would have done that. Of course you could always post links and give a tutorial. :)

Wait a sec. Pixoto does display EXIF data if it is there. They just don't require it at this point. This thread was originally about just having it displayed to begin with. Time for a new thread maybe?

NNNNNnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooo!

I would oppose the rule. It would mean that I couldn't combine two different coloured shots of the same photo as that looses the Exif data. It would in effect ban me from layering photo's to enhance the colours using Photopaint.

25 out of my 42 images do not have Exif data, and only 2 belong in the Photoshop/Digital Art category. You will throttle the creativity of the artists here and make it a place for pure photo's only.

Do this - and the cheaters win.

No problem Janette. Just trying to be helpful and lighten things up. People (including me) can take things way to seriously sometimes.

I have been trying to find where in the forums that Pixoto mentions that they are even thinking of implementing this rule. It was suggested a few times by a few people and one of the responses from pixoto if my mind serves me right, was that they have no plans on making it a requirement. Lets all take a deep breath and not create a problem where there is none.

It would make no use anymore of forcing the photo to have the exif data since composites are now allowed in the regular categories.

I would just like to have some more data added like
1. Date and Time Taken
2. Lens Model
3. Filename
Just for my own use. I could learn something especially knowing the lens used to take the photo.
The filename to avoid submitting a similar photo.
Date and time taken especially for Locations/places to know when is the best time to go to a place.

What is planned is already implemented. This thread is over 10 months old. Before 10 months ago they did not display EXIF data at all. This thread was originally started to just have the info displayed. Not to require it.

Let me give you a very simple illustration of the radical and far reaching effects a ban would have. If I save a copy of the original image and then put a simple vignette around it, but am unhappy because the effect is too strong, so I then import the original photo - make it transparent by 50% - and then combine it with the background, - this will lose the Exif data.

I've heard Shirley Mangini (I think it was Shirley...) talk about putting a half or quarter of the local tone effect on flowers. You can't do that unless you use transparencies and layers... which remove the Exif data - so you'll instantly remove subtlety from Pixoto photo's and the ability to process minimally. Does anyone want that?

I'm not sure what you're doing but in some cases I have over 30 layers and no loss of exif data. Out of interest are you doing save for web?

Makes sense Janette. All I personally am saying is that it would be nice if the photos that are pure photos would display all the EXIF data. If the photo is truly a pure photo according to the pixoto definition then I can't think of any reason why it should not be displayed. It is nice to know what equipment a photog used to take a picture and also having a file name displayed would help those members that have hundreds of photos be able to check if they have already uploaded a photo. Plus it would be easy for pixoto to do a quick dup file name check and have a warning pop up to let the photog know he already has a photo with that file name uploaded. I do not think EXIF data should be a requirement. It should just be a tool to help us all out.

Sure - I'm completely with you there. A pure photo should have the Exif data. I agree. :-)

Some shots can be stripped of it, when layered i think.
