Deleted photos. VERY ticked off!!!

I just had two photos deleted by Pixoto because someone reported that they were similar to other photos.  The ONLY similarities between the photos were the subjects.  However out of the first two, BOTH photos were taken in different spots (closer and further back) AND of the second two, same 3 churches, different compositions and different times during the sunset.  This is ridiculous.  I look at other photographers portfolios all of the time and there are a LOT of photos that are almost EXACTLY the same!!  And some are extremely similar.  So, is that what we do, on Pixoto???  Go through peoples portfolios and report similar photos??  Because, by golly, if someone is going to do that to me.... I'll certainly take the time to return the favour!!

Hello Lena, our definition of very similar images are same subject and same pose/scene. If on both of your images were subject the same and same pose/scene (and the difference is that one is more closer then another) images are very similar. If that is not the case please post links here and we will check it.

We rely on users to report very similar images (or duplicate), so if you do see very similar (or duplicate) images please do report them.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled "similar" photos deleted..

So.... as I said in my previous rant, Pixoto deleted 2 of my photos because someone reported that they were similar. So.... What the frick is similar to you??  This is just one photographer who floods Pixoto with similar photos.... How many bloody fields of lavender do you need to see??  How many men with cigars in their mouths do you want to see?  How many photos of the very same children, doing exactly the same thing, do you think we need to see???  This is her URL https://www.pixoto.com/simonac81    This is another photographer.... How many photos of the same blonde girl in pretty much the exact same pose (and two exactly the same photo) do we need to see??  How many photos of the same grain elevators do I want to see?  or 3 photos of a sleazy girl with a green ball cap???   This is his URl https://www.pixoto.com/pauldrajem .   Another... How many racing horses with men on their backs with sticks in the hand are necessary?  How many men racing cow carts?  How many racing cars through sand??  His URL https://www.pixoto.com/arjoyia  And once again... How many clay pots should there be photos of?  How many sunflowers and sunflower fields?  How many photos of the same red topped building on the shores of a lake that looks like Shangrila?  How many photos of horses or cattle pulling carts full of people?  How with many cars racing through the sand??   How many of the very same ancient buildings??  Here is his URL https://www.pixoto.com/arjoyia .  These 4 have a LOT of the very same photos, the very same subjects, over and over again.  What's more frustrating is when they enter 30 - 70 photos of the very same subjects into a challenge.  Now..... difference between them and me is that they are "top" photographers.  So... they are exempt from the rules of similarity???   Not trying to single out a photographer.  Just trying to make a point.  So, I am not allowed to take photos of the same subject, on different days, different weather conditions, different compositions???  Please CLARIFY what a similar photo is!!  I have some favourite places that I like to shoot.  So... I can't enter two photos of the same subjects with different perspectives??

Lena, you can see our definition of very similar images here: https://www.pixoto.com/photography-co...

Specifically this part:
"NO VERY SIMILAR IMAGES: You may submit an unlimited number of images but each one must be significantly different from the others. This means only one image of any subject and scene/pose combination is allowed. The only exceptions are that you may have a duplicate of a color photo in the black and white category and you may use other images you have submitted to create unique works of digital art. You may delete an image and resubmit it at any time. If reported, and we agree that the images are not distinct enough, the newer image will be deleted. This is critical for keeping the Pixoto community vibrant, exciting and fun (note - this rule effective 6/1/2012)."

Zoom/crop or just shooting closer of same subject with same pose/scene is by our definition considered to be very similar image. If subject is changed and/or pose/scene then images are no longer very similar.

As asked before, if you see very similar images, please do report them using report button - reports are not allowed on community - https://getsatisfaction.com/pixoto/to...

It still does not clarify what I was asking.  I did not report similar photos.  I want YOU to go through the portfolios that I posted and SEE how many similar (same) photos are out there.  So, if I go back to the 3 Churches in Mahone Bay in the spring, take a photo, go back in the summer, take a photo, fall and winter.... that these photos would be deemed "similar" because they are the same subject???

You know what??  Pixoto is no longer fun and vibrant.  If I go to report a photo and there is a SIX month time line then that is not right either.

You stated:   If subject is changed and/or pose/scene then images are no longer very similar..... Alright.  My 3 Churches, the sunset had deepened, the street lamps had come on the angle of the shot was changed.  How was it then similar?  The photos of the two wire heads, at night.... One I was closer to it.  The other I had backed up to have it framed by tree branches.  HOW was that similar??

Yes that must be very frustrating I'm sure. However it might be better just to take more pictures of other things and keep entering . There is probably unlimited subject matter in this world other than your primary favorite place which will challenge you to be a better photographer. Well good luck on all this and I hope you come back with many more different images.

Lena, as explained before, if images are of the same subject and same pose/scene then they are very similar images. If you have to point out (they are not obvious on a glance) difference between images then they are probably very similar.
There is also more explanation (examples) of what are very similar images here: http://blog.pixoto.com/no-very-simila...
