Comment count indicator on thumbnails

  • Under Consideration
When viewing image thumbnails, including leader boards and my own images page, I'd like to see a number somewhere that indicates how many comments have been made about that image, so that I can see if there are comments, without having to click through to the image's page. Perhaps this could be appended to the "views" icon, where 20/5 would mean 20 views and 5 comments.

Interesting idea Ken! I can see this as being useful for sure.

You should receive an email when someone comments on your images. Are you receiving those?

Yes. It looks like I received 2 emails for 1 comment received yesterday. I've only received 1 comment, I think, so can't see if that's a pattern.

It would also be useful in the Player album context (any thumbnail page context).

Certainly, the facebook example of a comment count below every image thumbnail in the News Feed and Wall contexts comes to mind. When others are commenting on photo, it makes me want to see what they're saying and maybe chime in myself. Benefits are lots more interaction on the site...people stay longer and become engaged beyond the "which one is best" dimension.

I think there should be some indication on my profile of comments also...
