Hi, I see a lot of the pictures in the wildlife category are made in a zoo or otherwise captive setting. Should there not be a separate category for such photographs as they are not true wildlife pics?

I do not consider animals in zoos to be wildlife as they are in captivity an as such not in the wild.

I guess we would have to TRUST people ! After all, this is not a matter of "Life and Death", is it ? ...
I find that Wildlife is Wildlife whether in a Zoo or in the Wild.
The images you will get in a zoo are very different than the ones you will be able to capture in the wild !
However, that doesn't make "shooting in a zoo" any easier !!!
The fences with their mesh sizes ... , the glasses with their scratches and dirty finger prints ... are always a HUGE problem ! Not to mention the glare and reflections on the glass when the sun hits at the very moment you are about to click !!!
To me Wildlife is "Animals that are not domesticated". Of course, the lions in zoos are probably "less dangerous" than the ones in Africa ... BUT you will never 'pet them on the head" in neither nor situation !
And I agree with Roel, having a different section might be a good thing.
If you check my photos, I always mention in which ZOO I took my photo ... I'd rather be shooting these Animals in their natural Habitat but ... I do with what I have !
