Why are some of my photos being put up against photos that are in a totally different category?? My photo gets a lower rating when this happens... REALLY REALLY frustrating :( Explanation? Anyone??

Both photos are in the Abstract category. I don't see the problem? Images are not dueled solely by sub-category as awards are not given on sub-categories. So all sub-categories of Abstract will duel each other.

When the pictures are in a challenge, then it would be more fair to judge the pictures by pitching against each other. There shall be a separate duel algorithm for contests.

This is a continuing problem, I think the algorithem that matched pics for duels tries to make duel matches as soon as it can so it selects anything in the same general category. I would much rather wait for something in the same sub-category to be matched in a duel even if it takes longer to get results. I don't mind the overall judgment being in the general category but the individual duels should be better matched.

Hi Joseph, the awards are given out at the category level. All of the subcategories must duel each other to determine placement at the category level. So even if your image dueled the first duel in the subcategory, it would eventually have to duel images in other sub-categories with in the main category.

eventually duel in the main category is not the problem... but with in the first 3 duels? perhaps the first 6 duels should be in a subcategory, so at least we are comparing oranges with oranges at the most critical time. especially since so many picture are mis-categorized anyway. then once we get thru the first half dozen duels the image can take on the rest of the main category.

Hi Joyce, I understand what you are saying but in many sub-categories there are not 6 duels worth of images.
