Oh a good question after all. If I took a pic on the run with a DSLR, transferred to my iPad with Eye-Fi then edited with Instagram, is it still a mobile picture? I mean, except the camera, the rest is basically the same. It's been bothering me for months already.

it's still a DSLR picture but edited in instagram app. instagram is under mobile phone category so DSLR pictures are not supposed to be submitted in this category.

according to pixoto http://blog.pixoto.com/page/2/

"Rules:

Photos must be shot with your mobile phone and uploaded using the Instagram connection"

I'm afraid those were the contest rules. Pixoto lacks clear rules and their strict enforcement. But on the other hand there will always be haters and purists. Let them tighten the screws and next day they'll ban Lightroom and Aperture.

but the fact that there is still a weekly contest I would assume the rule is still in effect, am I wrong? or else instagram should have been move to other major categories and not under "mobile phone category" if the rule only took effect during the pwc challenge.

I would also assume that some are not really informed about it or have fully understood, so I can't blame them.

Im an amateur and it saddens me to view instagram pictures from professionals and see that the instagram picture's original file was also submitted in other categories thus revealing their true EXIF info. u can see my related post to this one. http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...

Im not sure if photographers responded or pixoto deleted some instagram pictures because I reported them and I left comments on their instagram pictures with the links of the original file.
