Adding Feature to Choose which Categories Appear during Voting

I have an idea.

I think it would be really cool for us to have a selection in the menu where we can go and check box / or uncheck box categories that will or will not appear when we are voting. This way we can choose areas of where we would like to cast our votes. I think it would be nice because say for example someone like me is very into landscapes and people but I am not much of abstract macro photographer, so I feel I would not be as great of a judge in these areas.

What do you think about adding this feature ?

I think choosing areas to vote would "skew" the competition too much. For example, I submit most often to babies and children- if I voted mostly in that category, it would (if I was a cheater) give me too much opportunity to vote for or against images that are highly competitive to my own. Over only a few weeks here, I can already recognize the style of several photogs.
Even with the random system, I still sometimes see images that I know influence categories I participate in (and so therefore others have the same experience I expect) but if it happens infrequently it would have less effect on the category overall.

Sandra makes a good point, also I think that the very popular areas would get most of the attention and we may not get enough votes to determine winners in other areas. I think it is important that all of the categories and content types participate in competition and it is important for photographers to be exposed to different types of photograph and the endless possibilities of subjects and methods of shooting, By exposing ourselves to other types of photography and art we can broaden our own skills and inspire our creativity.
