Right now, within the many, many images of the Leader Board one member has submitted, by my count, 3 entries of the same image. .......simply by flipping the image and by changing the color/contrast.

Happens in the topics I participate in, too. So much, I have stopped submitting. If this rule could happen, I would be interested in participating again...otherwise, probably not.

I am concirned about how this would be enforced. Looking over 100k+ photos to find dupes would be a daunting task. so I would propose that duplicate photos in the same category would not be allowed. but same / modified are allowed in multiple categories. Cash winners would have their previous uploads verified to make sure they have not been paid for previous photos.

you may still see a couple dupes from time to time, but they would not need much in additional "eyes" to track everything.

the duplicates are on the same account, so consider much less images and also concerns the best images of a player which are a max of 20-30 images.

its very easy, as Bob Marley said "you can fool some people sometime but you cant fool all the people all the time..."

If you get caught you loose all your points and you start from scratch.

Compare this two awarded photos (they are the same with a slightly color difference) and awarded for two different weeks!

In this case I would agree, how would this be enforced? User reporting? I want to make sure everything is fair, but I also want to make sure its not a rule that would flood the staff on here :)

There is the "duplicate" reason on user reporting already, the only modification is what duplicate means. That is the reason for this new rule.

As I went thru the Leader Board this morning and found the 'duplitcates'...in this case 'triplicates' ..........I reported each one AND, with the report added the http://www......'s so it would be easier for the admin to research.
This is not the first time this particular member has done this. The 1st week I joined, I saw no less than 4 images that were exact.......except the color of the flower had been changed and the image flip-flopped.
Make a rule and enforce!

Duplicate means, only one image version for every "negative".

I think you have some great suggestions here. How about if we changed the duplicates rule to:

NO DUPLICATES: You may submit an unlimited number of images but each one may only be submitted once. You may however delete an image and resubmit it at any time. If reported, the newer duplicate image will be deleted. There is one exception: you may have one monotone version of an image and one color version for a maximum of two.

I very much agree, I can fully understand the necessity of the exception.

Here are just 3 images that are exact. There are several more that have been photo-shopped, but are clearly the same image. All entered in the same category. Not hard to find, as they are high ranking.

There is an alternative method to the "new rule"...... writing comments like "you are cheating", "you dont know the rules", "who do you think you are fooling" and a lot more. He cant get rid of the comments unless he delete the photos.

Please clarify then a bit further, if one is allowed in color and one in black and white - are they both allowed in the same category? how about adding a black and white category (amongst the hundred other requests...LOL) so that the same image is not competing twice in the same category?

I like this idea. but I also think that sometimes people like to try different things with one image to see how it works on others. I don't mind that and in fact would not be bothered if they won awards on all versions. that is ...IF REAL PEOPLE ARE REALLY VOTING....which I now somehow doubt.

Reporting doesn't seem to help. I have reported the same image that has been flipped, recolored, manipulated and entered over and over and they are still there.

Shirley - we've an issue with our report system that prevented many of the reports from coming though. We still have them all and are now trying to get up to date ASAP. Sorry about this.
