There used to be a time, and not that long ago, before the onslaught of community challenges, where I could enter a shot at around 9:30 EDT and two hours later it had over 50 duels and was in the upper 600's or low 700's. Those days are apparently gone now and so is the thrill of competing in the daily contests, where serious togs can duel their shots against other togs around the globe, and get some sense of how their work compares. As a quick example, I have a shot in today's contest that has fourteen duels in fourteen hours. It stand at 11 wins, 3 losses...and tells me nothing because it is stuck in challenge voting hell!

Since Pixoto management has not seen fit to address this growing problem, or implement suggestions proffered by myself and others on how to stem the tide of challenges (fyi, limiting challenges to three per tog to "currently voting" status is a joke), the problem grows worse exponentially.

There are currently 70 challenges voting, with another 80 waiting in the wings. There are at least a couple dozen togs whose names you see repeatedly in every "currently voting" challenge, as well as in the "open" status. There is even one tog with four challenges waiting for current voting status. It may just be the way my mind works, but it seems incredibly simple for Pixoto to LIMIT the number of challenges per person per month to say one challenge per month. This would free up voting for the contest, which is the vehicle by which most of us, who have been on this site for awhile, were drawn.

Please don't ignore our suggestions on this important topic, and don't put Jasenka in the position of saying she will forward to management for their decision which never comes.

And limit the number of credits a moderator can earn as we have too many "Best of" "Your favourite" "Anything goes" etc challenges. These attract thousands of entries that we all have to vote on. My suggestion a few months back was 400 credits max.

21 hours ago I had a photo that had 21 duels. It STILL has only 21 duels yet it just took #3 for the day in its category.

NO duels in 21 hours and it can take top-ten with such a few number of duels.

I also submitted images about 15 hours ago and the most duels those images have received is 12 duels. Twelve duels in 15 hours?

So not right. None of this is right.

Not that it's going to make any difference, but as of right now I'm neither going to enter any more challenges nor am I going to create any. I'm not going to be part of the problem.

The problem with repeatedly slow duels and excessively contests are really getting out of hand. Wouldn't it be high time that the management did something about it?

The solution is NOT to send out an email asking people like me, who already votes every day, to vote.....an email that just popped up in my InBox. That's putting a bandaid on a slashed throat. The solution is to limit the challenges drastically AND limit their voting. Challenge duels should happen infrequently ... say, one out of every hundred duels should be a challenge. I don't care that that would mean challenges would take forever to be done with -- this site is NOT about the challenges. It's about the daily competition and sadly, that seems to be forgotten.

some great suggestions and as I posted on another thread, another idea would be to limit the amount of entries per contest might be a good idea, i saw someone post 60 pics in a contest the other day in a fairy generic subject ....just seems unfair

Thank you all for reporting. We have made some changes that should speed up category duels.

Thanks for responding, Jasenka. Could you enumerate exactly what these changes will be, and has there been any consideration given concerning the suggestions made about the mega proliferation of challenges on this site?

Hi John, we have sent e-mail asking for users to vote and we will keep eye on duels. Last couple of days were unusually low regarding casted votes, and we don't think that will happen again soon.

Great, I just tried voting again and it is 3 to 4 normal duels before there is a contest.
Also just uploaded a few images and got 20 duels with all of them within a couple of minutes.
But as John Larson states. When will there be a permanent fix when it comes to duelling. The contests are too many and too overwhelming in numbers of submissions.

I agree with John. If we limit the number of challenges a person can put up in a month, that would solve the problem. Limit should be like one or two.

People put up so many challenges just for the credits. Something changes can be made in that area too.

I prefer not to submit new images around 30th till 3rd or 4th of the month.
