Women's Day Poll: Inspiring Women, Non-Conventional Beauties

All these eminent TV/movie female celebrities have something in common: they were hugely talented and successful in their respective fields while belonging to a world that favored physical beauty, glamorousness and/or sexiness over talent, especially when it came to women.

Not only that but they never made their "physical difference" a sort of taboo, or something to be ignored even within the movies or programs they starred in, it was, on the contrary, an aspect of their personality that enriched an already existing talent and made them stronger, more unique and more inspiring.

So, celebrating Women's Day, which of these women of 'unconventional' beauty would you say is the most inspiring?

I don't really find any of these women very inspiring, granted I don't know much about them.
I love that they fought past the ideas of conventional beauty, but most of them still in their performances were raunchy and mouthy, seemingly defeating the purpose - just the same as a "conventionally" beautiful woman would disgrace herself by acting crass.
I prefer role models who battle through popular opinion, but also try to keep their morals.
Not trying to poo-poo your poll (lol), just me.  :)  Hope you're not offended.

Hollywood has always celebrated glamor and sexiness when it came to women, check for instance AFI's Top 25 male legends and compare it with the 'female' counterpart, some guys were tough-looking or above-average but almost every actress was beautiful in her prime... which speaks something about the chances for ordinary-looking actresses to climb their way to stardom above the character-actress status even during the New Hollywood revolution... so I thought it would be interesting to pay tribute to actresses who made it while looking like average Janes, that's what is inspiring about them, not their personality per se (though some are inspiring indeed)

I really like this poll! 'Tough choice, too: I think every one of them is inspirational in some way. Kathy Bates is my favorite actor of the bunch but, for all that she has done in show business, politics and social action, and charities, and for pushing the envelope with the films she directed, I'd probably go with Streisand.

I don't think Sarah Jessica Parker really fits here. I've never thought she was particularly beautiful, physically, but I know a lot of people who disagree with me, including Robert Downey, Jr., and Matthew Broderick, of course. She certainly is known for glamour, has modeled for several big brands, and has been cast in roles, like 'Sex and the City,' that would have never been offered to the other women on this list. Anyway, 'good poll!

May I suggest just two small edits to the intro? (below in bold)
