When i search a title and click it, i see "?ref_=sr_1" near to imdb id

Top 250: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=nb...
Coming Soon: http://www.imdb.com/chart/top?ref_=nb...

?ref_=nb_mv_3_chttp - ?ref_=nb_mv_3_chttp - ?ref_=sr_1

Why do you always use reference code? What does it mean? There was no reference code links before.

It was added in when they introduced the new search engine and seems to allow IMDB to do some tracking. I did ask if it was there for troubleshooting and if it was going to be removed (as it messes up the visited link colouring) but haven't got a reply.

I hope they remove these annoying reference code from the links. Because it doesn't make any sense and it looks ugly.

"?ref_=sr_1" code not neccessary next to the title number but irritating.

The data appended to those URLs is used internally to measure usage and for other statistical purposes; for this reason, we don't have plans to discontinue using them at this time, sorry.
