It has been awhile since I felt this uncomfortable while watching a movie.

I wanted to watch this movie because it's a true story about one of the first times ever in the U.S. that a man got convicted for a capital offense without a body or a murder weapon having been found. Unfortunately it never surpasses the level of the average B-movie.

Hard to rate, but I can't say it's good.

Zulu - 7/10 - could have used a bit of a prologue explaining the situation this battle happened in, for those of us unfamiliar.
The Count of Monte Cristo - 8/10
The Man Who Knew Too Much - 8/10 - the ending was too abrupt but otherwise, I liked it very much.

Kristen Stewart was even better in this than in Clouds of Sils Maria. Powerful, nuanced performance in a challenging role. She's become quite an actor.

Ninotchka - 8/10 - Garbo's penultimate film...oh what might have been! Her performance at the beginning really annoyed me but I guess it was necessary to show the contrast to her later behavior. Interesting fact - actress Ina Claire who played Ninotchka's rival ended up marrying John Gilbert, who had been Garbo's lover for many years.
Made in Dagenham - 6/10 - I wanted to like this so much more than I did. I love a lot of the actors and the subject matter was compelling but the execution just seemed very blah. Disappointing.

Stage Beauty - 7/10 - there are certain quirks of Claire Danes' acting that seemed to be heightened in this film and I really don't like. I've seen her in maybe 5 to 7 projects before and it wasn't until this movie that I really noticed now distracting and yet boring it is. Two examples are when she is making out with someone and when she starts to cry. The rest of the film is mostly interesting, and a story I haven't seen before.

Joe Kidd (1972) - 7/10
Trespass (1992) - 6/10
Children of the Damned (1964) - 7/10
The first two were about to leave the Netflix Latin America catalog so I watched them before it was too late. Joe Kidd is a decent western, Trespass is not perfect and is only to pass time if there's nothing better to do.
The last film I watched as a follow up to village of the damned (1960), it is not as good as the first version.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - 7/10 - Best Tim Burton film I've seen in at least 10 years. Remember when a new film of his being released was a reason to be optimistically excited?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) - 5/10, why is this famous? I found it mediocre and it has nothing to do against other 80's teen film like The Breakfast Club.

Something of Value - 6/10 - Meh
Hell or High Water - 8/10 - I hope Gil Birmingham gets more parts off of this - he is an underappreciated/underused actor
