Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

Dancer in the Dark - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0168629 - 10/10

WOW!!!! Holy crap, why did I take so long to see this film? I think it's von Trier's best and the performances are near perfect. I'm flabbergasted, floored and flummoxed by this amazing film!!!

Hud - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057163 - 7/10 - I've realized I really don't want to see anymore films where Newman is a jerk. I really don't like his style of playing an antagonist. I give the rating for the other actors though, and the film in general. Poor Brandon De Wilde...what might have been? :(

Dom Hemingway (2013)

If you like Jude Law, this is a must-see. Has quite some similarities with Trainspotting.

The Broken Circle Breakdown - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2024519 - 9/10 - a bitter-sweet Flemish cake of a doomed love story, frosted with Americana.

Time Bandits - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081633 - 7/10 - I'm curious about what people think is the meaning of the film. I wish where were somewhere I could go, some sort of discussion board website I could discuss it on. Oh well. :(

The Big Sleep (1946): 9/10. Superb film with a rather discombobulated plot, even for one of the film-noir genre. Bacall and Bogie spun some magic together in this one!

American Honey - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3721936 - 8/10 - an area of American life I haven't seen before. I hope Sasha Lane continues to get great parts - she nail this role in her first. Also I really want to see more from Andrea Arnold - I've seen a few films of hers and I liked them all.

I finally saw Toni Erdmann, 8/10

For me it was dramatic as much as it was comical.

Dancer - 8/10 - I've always kind of felt like male ballet dancers were just pieces of furniture for the women to dance around. Sergei is amazing, though according to the film, he is light years ahead of any other male dancer.

He is really great - there is a short film at the end made by David LaChapelle with him dancing in a barn to "Take Me to Church" that is really beautiful.

I just read that Ralph Fiennes is directing a film about Nureyev and Polunin is playing him. Could be interesting if it actually comes to fruition.
