Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

The Commitments (762nd re-watch) - 9/10 - The library had the two disc version. The special features - making ofs, where are they nows, etc - are especially interesting.

Won't You Be My Neighbor? - 10/10 - OMG. The tears are pouring. This MUST win the Oscar. Maybe his wife would be brought onstage for the speech. ❤️❤️❤️

Two of a Kind (1951) - Entertaining and little seen 50's crime film. - 7/10

The Uninvited (1944) - Great horror film, in a genre where it is difficult to make good movies. - 8/10

The Terminator, 1984.  5/10 stars.  I figured I should finally see it.  Plot is very interesting, but the action was probably more exciting in the 80's.  Also, there's that stop motion at the end... ouch.  But I do plan to see the second one, which I've heard is amazing.

Well said, Elmo. The foggy night scenes also add to the noir feeling. And between us forced dubbing connoisseurs, I think The Terminator is one of the very rare movies that improves with dubbing. Arnold's accent makes the character a little goofy, but with a straightforward voice you take everything more seriously.
I think that at first it should've been a mystery of who was the good guy and who was the bad guy.
I did read though that James Cameron wanted Arnie's intentions to be a secret in Terminator 2, however the trailer spoiled the twist.

Up until I saw the movie, I always assumed Arnold said "I'll Be Back" at the very end; like, as a doorway to the sequel.  I guess I didn't know much, lol.

It's true, my view of the film was rather superficial the first time (and I kept looking for points of comparison with the sequel that I saw first, so it affected my experience) but the second time I saw it, something really clicked, positively. Yes, there are a few things here and there you can see coming but I guess it was still fresh material in the 80s and the triangle formed by Bienh, Hamilton and Arnie create a perfect dynamic that works all throughout the film, not just for the thrills, there's a real chemistry between Kyle and Sarah.

"20 Million Miles to Earth" 1957.  5/10 stars.
Okay, it's cheesy because it's stop motion, but it's really quite pioneering in it's genre for being so old!  :)  I mean, there's guys in helicopters dropping things on the giant monster, creature fights in the street which causes mass destruction - that's stuff from new action movies!  Actually impressive, in a way.

RBG - 9/10 (I'm rounding up from 8.5) - I loved when she was watching Kate McKinnon playing her and she was laughing FOR REAL, not just chuckling in a "isn't that nice" kind of way.

Vox Lux (2018), 5/10.  Easily one of the worst screenplays I've witnessed for ear.

Tonight:

Robin Hood (re-watch) - 8/10 - I like the incongruity of country music in a medievil setting. Roger Miller as Allan-a-Dale is particularly good.
Ye Olden Days - 6/10

'Coach' (1989-1997), https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096560/ 8/10/  So funny and well acted.  Casting is perfect.  It's a shame they didn't go through with the revival a few years ago.
