Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

City Limits (1984), a movie literally no '80s kid has any sentimental feeling towards.  But if you do?  Consult a physician.  1/10 for the movie; 10/10 for the MST3k episode accoutrements.

Just saw “Deadpool 2”. It’s okey and it did grab me emotionally. I like Josh Brolin better here as Cable than as Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
One spoiler, this movie reversed the ending to “Logan”. Wolverine lives.

Haven't seen Deadpool yet but one thing I already hate about it: its poster, really the typical overcrowded and over-colored superhero poster, I guess you can spot a few funny things if you put your eyes closer but seriously, they could have come up with a more inspired or sober poster, the first one was just perfect. This one looks so conventional it's disappointing.

The poster is a parody of a well known shot in “Flashdance” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085549/.... They actually use the image in the film in a section that was also parodying the opening montages of the James Bond montages. I was happy to see it but sad to see that part end so quickly..
But if you are talking about another poster like this: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5463162/..., that is a parodying of another film’.s poster. All of Deadpool 2’s posters are parodies of other posters.

Of course, I was talking about number two :)

But whatever poster is parodied, it's certainly a superhero film, and if a superhero film parodies a superhero poster, it kind of understates the hilarity of the intent.

La Barraca (1945) . 8/10. The first time the Ariel Award (The Mexican Oscar) was handed, this was chosen as the Best Film and took most of the categories. It is a very good film and better than the competition which I have seen in other moments.

The Prestige (SPOILERS, Don't read if you didn't see it)

I'll watch the film again, I didn't read any review or any plot explanation, so this is pretty much a raw feeling, I think the film is great but doesn't it get too carried away at the end? I loved that every illusion had a trick, that there was always something behind it, for me that's the soul of magic, and the final twist at the end was terrific, but also problematic. if you go to such lengths to explain how Borden could do the "Transporter" , then there must be some plausible explanation about that Tesla machine, so there's a trap door all right, but it seems like it really duplicates people, does it?

When the double made his entrance, I was sure that he was the victim of the drowning and it was all a trick from Angier to fake his death and steal Borden's secret... but I didn't get it, did he pretend to drown? Then to be buried? I know the "double" was too obvious to be foreshadowed early in the film, and the twist was that it was Borden who killed his double.. but then, the Tesla machine is a sort of magical McGuffin? Are we supposed to believe that there's a trick?

The Void (2016), pulled off what Sony and Tristar couldn't do with a much larger budget with Silent Hill. 7/10.  Lord Cthulhu would be proud.

Rang-e khoda - 9/10 - tears....not quite as heartbreaking as Majidi's Children of Heaven, but close. Most movies I see from Iran just put the viewer through the emotional ringer!

“Hans Solo” 6.9 out of 10, the direction is not as exciting as the others and it did repeat some of the scenes : The Millium Falcon v. The tie fighter fight, and the millium falcon flying through the closing path to escape, and the gaunt monster in space. Plus the facts that we knew that Hans was going to make the Castelle run in record time and that Hans won the Millium Falcon in a card game from Orlando took a lot of the tension out of the picture for me. And I can swear that parts of the train robbery scene was copied from the “The Train” episode from “Firefly”. But the personality of the new droid was something new and refreshing.

If, in a few more weeks, I still feel the way I have for the past two weeks since I saw it, I might even say 10/10.

Princess Ka'iulani - 7/10 - this is more like a 6.5 - unfortunately when you make a biopic you are stuck within the confines of what actually happened, whether the story is particularly riveting or not...

'Good to see a good rating. I think this movie was underrated. I think I rated it a 6 but with a bump for Blunt's performance taking it to 7.
