Thought I'd post this here until I hear we're doing it somewhere else....

Post the name of the latest movie you've seen and your rating out of 10.

Sunshine Boys (t0073766) - 7/10 - loved Burns, hated Matthau.

A Simple Plan (re-watch) - 7/10 - inferior to the book.
Repulsion - 7/10 - disappointing. After all the hype I've read through the years I thought this would be transcendent. It is not.

Amazing film. Check out It Happened One Night (1934) and You Can't Take It with You (1938) if you haven't seen those... two Capra gems!

I remember being disappointed by the latter, which was so strong in saccharose and good feelings I almost thought it was meant as a self-parody, I don't think the film holds up very well today, not as a Best Picture winner anyway. Mr. Deeds Goes to Town is for me the fourth Capra gem after the three 'obvious" ones :)

I've seen It Happened One Night (1934), it was amazing. Until now, I've never been disappointed by Capra.

A Quiet Place (2018), 9/10.  Millicent Simmonds was the easily best part of Wonderstruck (2017) and definitely the best part of this one as well.

B: The Beginning (TV Series) , season one? 6/10.  Unless I hear that they don't downgrade the best character of the series, Detective Lily Hoshina as she basically became a mere plot point for one of the two male leads, (both being pretty flat and uninspiring esp Keith Flick who was built up as Sherlock Holmes/Dr. Gregory House type)?  I will not be watching the second season if it comes up on Netflix.

Verónica (2017), well acted.  Too convoluted for its own good. 7/10.

Curpigeon (2017) (animated short): 4/10. Pretty terrible animation and schlocky character design.

You Were Never Really Here (2017)  This is one of those films that is undeniably well made and exquisitely acted but its darkness has me in its grip so effectively that it is really hard to rate, especially only a few hours after seeing it. 'Difficult to watch yet one feels like it's impossible to look away. For now, 8.5/10.

Girls Trip - 6/10 - would give it 5.5 stars if this site allowed it. Mediocre at best, tragically pathetic at worst.

Split (re-watch) - 8/10 - would probably give it 8.5 stars if that were possible on this site.
The Honeymoon Stand-Up Special - 8/10 - I like Moshe a lot more than Natasha (think I've seen him live but can't quire remember) but I liked her more than I usually do in this special. Recommended.

The Citizen - 8/10 - quite good until the last two minutes had a totally unnecessary montage. The lead actor, Khaled Nabawy, was really great, a true star. He should be far better known internationally. And Sam Kadi needs to be given the opportunity to make more wonderful films like this.
Frantic (re-watch) - 8/10 - still a great thriller that's not too over the top the way many are these days. I wish there were DVD extras - according to the trivia page, 15 minutes were cut and a new ending was shot. I'd like to know more about that...
Has anyone seen it recently? I have questions. :)

I giorni dell'ira AKA Day of Anger (1967). 9/10
Great Spaghetti Western! The director, Tonino Valerii, worked with Sergio Leone before he made this movie. And you can see that in this movie.
It had the same style as the major movies like The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Bir Baba Hindu (2016) - 3/10, terrible comedy.

Spirit (2002) - 6/10, not really engaging and I disliked the songs, they all seemed to be the same.

Wonder Woman - 8/10 - there was no way the rest of the film was going to live up to the exceptional beginning on Themyscira.

Three Colors: Red (1994), great story telling. Great cinematography. 9/10
Throne of Blood (1957), this is the first time I didn't like a Kurosawa movie that much. I liked Rashomon, Ikiru typo of films. Or Seven Samurai and Yojimbo. While Ran (9/10) and Throne of Blood 7/10, are not the kind of movies I like.
Die Hard (1988), this is first time I've seen Die Hard. It's one of the best of it's category. 10/10
The Best Years of Our Lives (1946), phenomenal movie. 9/10
Ben-Hur (1959) one of the best epic movies 10/10. I've just started to watch Wyler's movies. Can't wait to watch Roman Holiday.
La Strada (1954), good movie, but it's kind of film that I've forget in a month 7/10.
