Video Playback Issue

I am not having trouble navigating, but none if the videos will play. I just get a page with a black box where the video should be. It shows the titles and the posters and links back to the main page but no video. I hope you fix this great improvement soon.....maybe go back tot he way that worked., make everyone happy.

Very sorry to hear you're having issues. Can you answer the questions below to help us investigate?

1. What device, operating system, browser and browser version are you using?

2. Do you have any ad blockers turned on? If so, have you tried turning off and playing video?

3. Is this happening from a particular URL - if so can you share the link?

4. Is this happening consistently for any/all videos you try to play on the site?

5. When you see the black screen - is there any info visible at all? Does clicking on the screen do anything?

The same issue here, started last night.  Been watching every night until then.  I didn't change anything.  The only thing on the screen is the arrows to allow for full screen option.  Been using Mac Air, updated, with Chrome.  None of my settings were changed;  I clicked on the full screen arrows and it did fill the screen bc it showed how to exit full screen at the top.  Plz help.

Hello and thanks for the reply. Let me answer your questions as best I can.

1. I am using a Lenovo C540 desktop using Win 8 - all updates etc... I am using IE 11 (do not tell me to switch to Chrome)
2. I only have my IE settings for pop up blockers. No additional ad blockers.
3. As an example of URL. - I selected a movie preview from the homepage and this is the URL I am directed to.
      https://www.imdb.com/video/vi605863705?listId=ls044584823&pf_rd_m=A2FGELUUNOQJNL&pf_rd_p=15f...

On the top of the page is the search bar (now in white), the IMDB drop down menu, the watchlist link, my user name.
Below this is a large grey/black space - center aligned with nothing inside (borders in black)
At the bottom there is a small poster of the preview I selected (left aligned in play box)
A line " What We Know About..."
A share symbol
Below that some further information and links - seems like the normal content that you have placed there.
But nothing happens in the vid play screen. Just stays black.
4. I have tried every kind or direction to get the vid to play. I can search a title from the search bar and get the page, then select the link to play a vid from that page but I get the same screen as described with no playback. I can select a preview from the main page, again directed to the play page but nothing happens. Any link from any page (on IMDB) directs me to the same vid play page but nothing plays. Videos on FB or YouTube play just fine.

I have tried clicking the open space, right click to get play options.....nothing works.

Please let me know if you can fix this. Great Thanks.

Even tho none of my Chrome settings were changed I went ahead and tried using Safari with the same results.  I use Mac Air, everything updated.  Nothing is set to be blocked and yes it happens with all videos when only 15 hrs ago I was watching with no problems. Netflix is working fine.  Plz help.

Are you trying to watch IMDb TV content or other content like videos/trailers?

TV show but it only happened once so far.  Though last night there was video but no audio on one episode, I let it play through and the audio was back on the next episode.  Sorry for the delay but got preoccupied with the holidays.   Also, is thee any way I can find out if a show you have available is about to be dropped & be only available thru Prime?  Cuz I was in the middle of watching a series when that happened.  Thx.

Same problem here. I've been watching Fringe on IMDB TV for the past few days without any problem. And last night I got stuck on a black screen after I clicked on any video. Nothing changed on my settings. Also, I tried with Chrome, Firefox and IE. Using Windows.

Hi Lucia, can you confirm if you're getting the black screen when trying to watch IMDb TV movies/shows (like Fringe) or are you getting the black screen when trying to play other video content (not IMDb TV) like videos from the home page or title pages?

Thanks Carolyn, Lucia and BT Dulin. If any of you are signed into an IMDb Account and video is failing could you share a link to your "Your Activity" page? This is found by clicking on the account drop down menu in the top right corner of the screen and clicking on the "Your Activity" link - after that if you could please copy/paste the link that would be great. This will help us further diagnose the issues.

Also if anyone does have any ad blocker presets within your browser or additional browser extensions such as Ghostery, please do try turning them off and then try playing a video.

None of these apply in my case.  But the blk screen with only the full screen symbol showing has happened once while trying to watch a TV show epi.  Double cliccking on the screen or even at the full screen symbol does nothing.  And the video but no audio once.  In that instance I let the epi run its course and when the following epi started, the audio was present.
