There is no issue. One is a user account for accessing the site, posting on message boards, saving lists, writing reviews, submitting data, etc.

The other is a name page, part of the searchable database of film related data, on which credits get listed.

The two things don't have anything to do with each other and should not be merged.

Not only should they not be merged, but they can't be merged.

Apples and oranges, which should never be merged either, not even in a smoothie.

Sudipto: Although your user page cannot be merged with your name page (as Bluesman and Emperor said), you can put a notice in your user page profile to say that you are Sudipto Mukherjee and your IMDb filmography can be found at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3804593 .

To do this, go to http://www.imdb.com/user/ur22985380/b... and type that information into your Boards Bio, then click "Save Profile".

This way, the people who see your user page will be able to find out who you are and what films you have worked on.

I hope this helps.

You can also post on your own message board just saying hello, that way people can easily find your IMDB profile link and if they want to, they can drop you a line.

I'm sure I've also mentioned that a good idea would be something like Twitter, where people can get their user accounts authenticated as being the person the name account refers to (which might include a link to your user profile from your name page).
