There are two seperate pages for the Dragon Ball Z anime. One is for the original version that aired on Japanese television from 1989 to 1996, another is for Funimation's English adaption which aired from 1996 to 2003. Somebody added a 1989 air-date for the first episode of Funimation's dub, "The Arrival of Raditz", when the actual air-date is 1996. I tried to remove this made up air-date (which makes it seem as though Funimation's dub aired from 1989 to 2003), but my change got rejected. I want this false information removed immediately.

Much like Godzilla (Gojira) (1984) and Godzilla 1985 (1985)
But while Godzilla 1985 had a different cast and a longer run time. It qualified for different release dates because of this.
Your 1996 D.B.Z. is exactly the same, (No change except language and an AKA Name) so it is in effect was released in 1989. Nothing to correct.
This may not make sense to you, and you may want to argue your point of view, but it is not my database nor is it your database. Their rules and point of view rules. We may disagree with them, but their choice makes sense.
I will not reply further because it is unnecessary. I understand their reasoning. Saying you know this and are sure of your hypothesis is correct because your read this or you point out something on the internet that said that is irrelevant.
IMDb's decision is consistent with policy.
Wait for a reply by staff from this point on.
Any further comments on your part will confuse the issue.
A reminder, what anyone else on the internet says is irrelevant.
Cheers

P.S. They may agree and change it.....but don't count on it.

Ed Jones (XLIX) I don't know what is your knowledge of this two series, but if you have actually seen them, you wouldn't say what you said. JB's claims are based on FACTS and on IMDb's Guidelines, not on "what people say on the internet".
