In past 3 weeks - month, trailers buffer SO much, I can't watch them anymore, too irritating.
I've rebooted all hardware
I've updated all software
I've cleared all cookies and history
I've turned off adblocker
I've tried logged-in and not logged-in
I've tried on 3 browsers (firefox, chrome, safari)
I've tried on my friend's house Destop computer, my computer is a Macbook

I watch streaming movies and tv shows, on free streaming sites, with annoying advertising, with no buffering problems.
The only buffering problem is IMDb.

Nothing works, even the annoying ads before the trailers ( this is super annoying, a trailer IS AN AD, we don't need more ads!!!!) buffer.
Sometimes the buffering is 20 seconds long, and all I get is 2-3 seconds of footage.

I also note at the bottom left-hand of the screen, all the little snippets that are loading, maybe IMDb is trying to take too much information off us, and in so doing, limiting the trailer functionality?
I used to let the trailers run, after the one I'd come to watch, I never used to have such problems until a month ago.

Hi tnt666,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the video buffering while browsing IMDb.
To help further troubleshoot, I've forwarded this information to our engineering team.

Hi tnt666,

To further identify the issue, please provide us with the following information:
1) What country are you located in? (E.g. USA, Canada, India)
2) Does this happen to all the videos or only the trailers ?
3) Can you please share the URL link to the video where this issue occurs?

1. Canada.
2. I don't know about "all". I usually don't watch the random interview/fandom things.
It's usually trailers, dozens and dozens, all of them,
for example, the old Watchmen
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409459/videoplayer/vi3940663065?ref_=nv_sr_2_v_2
but I also checked a random IMDb video
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls025720609/videoplayer/vi1456717593?ref_=hm_vd_mmm_sc_i_1
Also buffers too much to bother watching

Both of these examples have more buffer time than play time.
So yes, I think it's all video content on IMDB, and I'm close to convinced it's all the advertising and trackers causing this.

3. it's not one here and there, it's been consistently, for a couple of months.
I never used to have any problems before on IMDb video content.
And as stated, I watch free streaming sites, with popups and ridiculous ad content, and yet, no buffering issues.
The only other sites that occasionally give me issues are certain news re-mashers, like MSN. But most news site video I also watch without problems.

Hi tnt666,

Would you be able to also provide the browser versions and the OS version on your Macbook?

Thanks again.

70.0.1 on Firefox
10.11.6 OS Macbook
But listen, this is irrelevant, my browsers and computer are ALWAYS up to date and this has been a several months problem with endless previous updates.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Trailer buffering - practically impossible to watch now.

Where are  video playback settings located (to reduce quality) so trailers stop buffering ? This used to be easy to find in the menu but not anymore. Trailer buffering makes it impossible to watch
