I am getting "This video file cannot be played.(Error Code: 224003)" when trying to play any trailer on Firefox and Chrome (latest versions fully updated) in Win10 (also fully updated).
What does 224003 even mean?! and what's the solution?

Hi Thumperer,

Can you provide a link to the video that is erroring out for you? Have you had issues with any other videos on site previously?

I've been having the same problem for the last couple of weeks.  ALL trailers I've tried to watch ANYWHERE on IMDb get the same Error Code (224003).  This problem just started completely out of the blue.  I had NOT changed ANYTHING on my computer.   I'm  still using Windows 7, and the latest version of Firefox.  Never had this problem previously in all the years I have been using IMDb.  The inability to watch Trailers REALLY SUCKS!  I sure hope you can figure out what is wrong, and how to fix it!

Hi Michael,

A few questions to help us try and diagnose:
-Have you tried disabling any ad blockers you may have on your browsers? Please note other community members comments about Ghostery below - they have had success in this area.
-Are there any specific video examples (copy/paste URL) that you could provide?
-Are you trying to watch trailers from the www.imdb.com/trailers page or another ingress?

Thank you so much for any insight you can provide.

ALL trailer videos are giving me this error for the past ~week
Never had an issue prior to this. All other online players (Youtube/Vimeo/FB...) work perfectly.

WOW! THANK YOU!! I just paused my Ghostery and indeed all trailers are playing again!

I have informed Ghostery, I would advise as many people as possible to do the same... go to their website and click on Support.

Thanks again Troels Christensen

Thanks Thumperer,

Hoping you can provide a little more information. Do you happen to have any ad blockers turned on? If so have you tried turning them off to play content? The videos that you're trying to play, are you trying to play those from any particular pages e.g. a title page or from the www.imdb.com/trailers page? Any other specifics would be helpful in our investigation.

you have to click ghostery and set IMDB to trusted to watch videos. if you don't allow them to invade your privacy and jack your info or you can't watch their videos.

Thanks Everyone for your replies and insights and highlighting the "ghostery" setting. We did also find a bug related to the Error Code: 224003 that was impacting playback from our www.imdb.com/trailers page for a subset of videos. We have published the fix and video playback on this page is now working.
