There is another type of parasite -- the one who goes onto your biography, adds links, and then decides to take credit as your co-writer.

Hi Jon Claude Hopwood -

Can you clarify the exact issue you are experiencing in further detail?  Is this concerning a mini-Bio listed on the site, if so can you confirm what name page you are referring to?

Thanks!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Parasites who rewrite biographies to put their name on them.

I stopped writing biographies for the IMDB when one too many times, some parasite rewrote (or in the case of my Brando biography, merely rearranged some paragraphs and ruined the narrative) my biography,

My biography of Arthur Miller, which I was proud of and which was quoted by news sources when he died, was ruined by one of these parasites, who decided to attach himself to seven more of my biograhies.

The IMDB allows multiple biographies of people to be posted. I wrote Peter Bogdanovich's biography. He later added his won.

What drives these parasites to wreck another person's work?

I am going to take steps to have all my biographies taken down from the IMDB because the IMDB has no respect for its contributors, as can be seen by it allowing parasites to wreck a serious, though out work, with a real narrative, and their failure to credit bio writers when a bio is

Hi Jon Claude -

Thanks for the additional details, I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced problems with the Bios you submitted and listed on the site.

First, regarding the multiple Bio's mentioned on the page of "Peter Bogdanovich", our policy is to display one Bio per page, as such I have now removed this separate Bio you reported.

Second, regarding other contributors adding their names to a Bio you provided, we only allow another user to attach their name in the "by" line if they made a considerable amount of content changes to the existing Bio (not just grammatical updates).  If there are instances where you are certain another contributor added their name in the author field but didn't make considerable updates, please provide some Bio examples here and our staff can investigate further.

Are you sure? For one, I've seen hundreds of name pages with more than one mini-bio. Also, the guide (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/biographical-data-guidelines/GMT9...) says "Where possible we prefer to list a single biography.", which is not the same as only allowing one mini-bio.
