Terrific Spanish comedy, from Spain, set in 17thc. about a doltish king and the queen who is trying to lure him into her bed (heirs....). Cinematography makes the court look like Zurbaran and Velazquez. Can't find it anywhere. Saw it in Atlanta at an art venue in the ?80's.

I thought about this one, because I remember when it was released in France, but the date does not match with a realease in Atlanta in the 1980's.

You're right, Vincent. The red stockings part was so distinctive that I missed that point... My fault.

Thanks so much. I found one copy in amazon, Spain, and have asked my Spanish son-in-law to buy it, with my daughter, as a Xmas gift.  It was 13.3 Euros with free shipping, if my Spanish is correct.I am certain that they changed the title from Dumbfounded King to Red Stocking or Stockings, when we saw it.  I found a promo shot of the prostitute in the movie seen from the back wearing red stockings. The pose is directly related to Velazquez'"Rokeby Venus",  which was tuse as the promo for the movie. Too bad the Prado let that one get away.

Thanks again everybody.
