The IMDb Polls are a distraction here from the bigger issues

I'm sure GetSat was not designed to handle those Polls here and because IMDb has made a silly decision to get rid of the boards, there is no better alternative. Can they be moved to another sub-section so that they do not appear on the main page here? or maybe its own section like https://getsatisfaction.com/imdbpolls instead? People come here to get issues fixed in regards to IMDB content (name and title pages), not play games. I hate this site but I have tolerated it and have helped out many people here but the last few weeks, all i see is polls and its quite irritating.

Please move the polls elsewhere and leave this subsection /imdb/ for real issues. It won't be long before it becomes a discussion forum for films/actors for people who used the imdb boards for just that and that will be a problem for another day (in 3 or 4 days perhaps).

And yes, I'm aware of the sub-categories here but just like other users, i prefer to use the main section as it related to all sections (the important ones) before this Poll nightmare was introduced.

Agree... lost in a sea of polls. Fills the whole page and more. What a nightmare!

And a 'bump' to push it above the polls that have come through since this post.
What a distraction these damn things are.

no need to bump it every time, but yes it is becoming a bit of a distraction. Lets hope they move it somewhere else

vhavnal,

I fully agree this is unsatisfactory.

Unfortunately, when people post poll suggestion to https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/categories/imdb_imdb_poll they also are posted to https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb. After February 19, 2017, I expect the problem to become much worse. There are over 5,000 live polls and there are currently over 15,000 threads on the IMDb Poll message board.

I think I may have to give it away if this keeps up.

I haven't really been involved in the IMDb polls previously, other than voting in them. Are the poll posts we have been seeing for the last two weeks based on previously existing polls? And after Feb. 20, will we only see new poll threads here in which people are proposing or announcing new polls?

gromit82,

We collectively are seeing poll authors copying pending poll suggestions and live polls to Get Satisfaction per instructions from IMDb. After February 20, 2017, it will likely primarily be new suggestions and announcements that polls have gone live. There may be other off topic threads.

I'm considering posting this question on https://getsatisfaction.com/getsatisfaction:

Is there a way to filter out a category from the email feed? The category IMDb_Poll
(https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/categories/imdb_imdb_poll) is generating a lot of posts, which can be distracting from reporting problems, explaining IMDb functionality and suggesting new features for IMDb?

gromit82 and vhavnal, what are your thoughts? Is there a better way to phrase the question?

Dan: The main category I am interested in here is Data Issues & Policy Discussions. So when I go to https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/categories/imdb_imdb_contentdata_issues, I find most of what I am looking for and can bypass the polls.

Sure, but some people don't always know (or care, or accidentally choose the wrong category) what to choose.

Those of us with admin rights can recategorize misplaced posts.

Dan mentioned email. Doesn't the email notification feature already allow you to choose the categories you want to receive notifications for?

I agree. Suddenly there are nothing but polls in this forum. Legimate questions are quickly buried under these endless poll threads. What's going on?

Yes agree! All I see are polls. Everything is buried under pages of polls.
