Vanity Fair featured a list of 10 classic style icons and their present-day counterparts. The introduction to the list: "Long before Audrey Hepburn embodied elegance in a little black dress and oversize sunglasses, fashion and Hollywood were convergent worlds. Designers were captivated by the beauty and mystique of celebrity. And leading ladies flocked to fashion for its decadence and glamour. As we close out yet another fashion month, we look at the Hollywood style icons of yore and their present-day contemporaries."

Which of these comparisons do you feel is most apt?

I expected Cate Blanchett to be the new Katharine Hepburn.

As for Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Portman has only the dark hair but she's too petite to be compared to Audrey Hepburn (and even then, Rooney Mara is closer to Hepburn than Portman), I expected either Anna Hathaway or Carey Mulligan.

Russel And bullock. The comparision of Catherine Hepburn to Tilda Swinton, IMHO, is ludicrous. Hepburn dressed plainly in mostly a blouse, slacks and sometimes a sweater. She would have never dressed up like this: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0842770/me...

Even without making a fuss about height, Rooney Mara would have been a more fitting Audrey Hepburn counterpart

ElMo - how so? I think both Hepburn and Portman have a "royal" presence that Mara doesn't.

Dgranger - it's not about clothes, it's about challenging gender norms and taking risks the majority of women do not.
