So Sick of "It" Clown Photo at the Top of IMDB page!

For the last few weeks, every time I look up a movie or actor on IMDB, I have to look at the creepy clown photo from the the new "It" movie. I don't even find clowns scary (it must be much worse for people who do!) but I don't like looking at a creepy photo when I am getting info about a different movie or show. I can't find any email or contact info to give feedback to the website. Any help for me? Or maybe I just need to stop looking at IMDB.

In such cases, the best page to start is this one:
https://www.imdb.com/find
for mobiles:
https://m.imdb.com/find
The above links may be bookmarked...

Hope this helps

Thank you. That does bring up a nice search page which doesn't advertise lists of movies (like the creepy one), but when I click on a specific movie, there it is again on the right side.

I discovered something surprising: when I accidentally clicked on the link for the list that included the creepy clown, after that the ad for a list was a different list and different photo! It hasn't come back yet!

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about the advertisements on our site. We occasionally allow pop-up ads and other ad formats because some of our advertisers have expressed their preference for these alternative methods of promoting their products and services. We realize that some of these advertising methods may be more intrusive or require more user interaction than regular banner ads, so we constantly work together with our advertisers to substantially limit the frequency of such ads and achieve a good balance between an effective promotional exposure and maintaining great site usability.

Please keep in mind that IMDb.com is a free service: our advertisers help us to continue providing you with great movie information, and thanks to them we can keep offering our popular service for free and continually improve our site with new content and features. We obviously do not wish to annoy or alienate our users, and we use a cookie-based system to strictly limit the number of ads that are displayed to users during the same session. Make sure that your browser is configured to accept cookies, which are used to detect whether you've already been shown a particular ad. If you get the same ad whenever you open a new page or click on a link, enabling cookies and restarting your browser should take care of the problem.

Thank you and I do really understand that the site is free and I appreciate the wealth of information. I can handle ads if they are not creepy. I wouldn't call this a "pop-up". It is a photo that is to right side when I search for and look at any specific movie. It's an illustration to go with a list titled "IMDb's Most Anticipated Movies of the Second Half of 2019" and the illustration is the creepy clown. The same list and same photo have been imbedded in the frame for every movie I looked at for the last 2 weeks or more.

So I have definitely found a work-around, and I found it back accident:  I accidentally clicked on the link for the list that included the creepy clown, and ever since, the ads for the lists (that are always on the right side of each movie page) have been DIFFERENT lists and photos! It's counterintuitive; I usually try not to click on ads because I don't want to see more ads like them. The IMDB programming seems to say "Well, now that you've seen that one, I'll show your another one"!!

This is why Taylor has explained above:
"Make sure that your browser is configured to accept cookies, which are used to detect whether you've already been shown a particular ad".
After you clicked an ad, then another one goes showing.

I still would like to protest using photos with disturbing subjects in the ads on IMDB. I know that what is defined as "disturbing" is different for different people, but I'm willing to guess that IMDB folks could predict some categories of photos that most people find disturbing.

This is a classy website, so let's keep it classy!

I mean, there's nothing particularly wrong or unsafe with the picture of Pennywise, but I can relate as it appearing several times on the right side of IMDb unnerved me a few times, as well.

That will be yet another year of creepy clowns, considering that Joker is on its way, as well.
