How can I search multiple lists?
Or rather, how can I search across multiple user-defined lists for an actor?

Where the movie lists are mutually exclusive, no film is on two or more lists, each film is on one user-defined lists only. I mean in the user-defined list's, as in the MyMovies lists.

I've categorized my lists in several mutually exclusive lists: the French films I've seen and all the rest I've seen. So a film can NOT be on the same list.

But if I wanna search for FILMS that have an actor in them that has appeared in both French films I've seen and English films I've seen, the Advanced Title Search has no hits.

Apparently, it does a Boolean-AND search, where a Boolean-"OR" search would be what I want.

It used to be like that, before, I could easily search across all my user defined lists for all the movies that an actor had played in.
But now, not at all.
Please fix that, or tell me how to do it if its already possible.

Effectively what you want to do is:
(list1 AND actor) OR (list2 AND actor-list)
which is the same as:
(list1 OR list2) AND actor-list

I currently do not see how to do this with Advanced Search.

Hmmm, dunno about that.
Effectively what I want is an OR search rather than an AND search.

To be clear, this is what I want:
If I edit these 2 links,
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?list...
(this results in 3 films)
http://www.imdb.com/search/title?list... (this results in 5 films)

into one with the ampersand & operator,

http://www.imdb.com/search/title?list...

just gives me ALL the films with Gainsbourg, instead of just the ones on my own user-defined lists, which would be seven in total.

And it should be possible, because it's possible to do this for two genres

In ATS, I can can search across multiple genres. This should be technically possible for two lists as well. with today's database technology.

Hi.. I would like to know how to search for other User defined lists. I am a newbie. I can't seem to find that option. For eg: I want to search for user lists in the search option. Is there an option for that or there is a trick to find that out. Thank you!

Currently, there is no way to do search for other lists directly in IMDb. You can indirectly do this via a Google search.

For instance, if you wish to search for lists related to snow, you would use the search terms:
site:imdb.com/lists snow
The link for this is
https://www.google.com/#q=site:imdb.com%2Flists+snow

Yep, I usually use Google to look for IMDB lists. However, if you want to see this then +1 this suggestion:
