It’s there, but they’ve hidden it at the bottom and there isn’t a search box by default.  I personally think the new UI is horrible, did they do any usability testing?

Not there on my iPad. I found on iPhone but results page in a tv series is really poor. Used to be able to bring up seasons and episodes with cast in the particular series. Anyway, don’t see any improvements just a revamp and whole new app with a loss of a lot of good data results. Now, not so. Won’t be using again anytime soon

They couldn't have. They seem to want form over function. It's terrible.
You can back in, by doing a google search and find the imdb.com item, usually in the top 5

This was awful, I always loved imdb for 20 years, but seems like they want us to search in Google instead. This was an enormous disappointment.

I guess I'm deleting IMDB from my favorites list after years of wonderfulness. If I cannot search for TV and Movies, what the hel* good is it? Yep, works on my phone. The whole world runs on cell phones now.

I am a usability specialist working exclusively with apps. This new search UI is horrible. Rule number 1 is that you never put an icon at the bottom of the app (search icon) and then make the user tap again at the TOP of the app in order to enter search text. I can only assume that they wanted to remove the permanent search box to make more room for features like movie ads. But this is not a good solution.

My only thought on all this, the extra time taken for us to discover and click in the search box, makes us look at the ads just that much longer, when we don't look at them at all, why, cuz we are now being annoyed spending too much time at our original task.

If you do not see a Search tab at the bottom of the screen, please restart your app.

If you do see the Search tab, touch it to bring up the search bar.

Hey Trisha - I appreciate that y’all are working to make things better here, and/but (I’ve been using IMDB since The Beginning!), there’s a new change - this nested search tab/link/click, and it’s NOT a good idea Please - I use this app multiple times daily (iOs), and with this change, now, EVERY time I open it, I have this extra step (clicking to open a search field). Who doesn't use IMDB for searching, really?

Is there a way of restoring the field such that it is available upon first opening?

Please! Thx, Dan

Microsoft is ending support for app-less computers in January. So we all need to join Apple and get apps for everything now. Remember when we could go to Circuit City or Comp USA and buy GREAT software for our computers? NOW, we get a cheap app that many times does nothing special, especially on Windows 10(100's of apps that do nada). Windows won't even sell a computer with anything but an engine anymore(like buying cars with no radio/spare tire/heater/AC/or a car jack). Like being born/living in CA, it's time to move.

Trisha, please scrap this abortion and go back to what worked so wonderfully before. Didn't you people think to test this with the public before just foisting it on us?

No, nothing here!!!!
And what is that for a stupid idea to put the most important feature at the bottom anyway. We use imdb to search up movies! Have your developers completely lost their minds?
Seriously!!!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why did IMDB.COM remove the search bar from the page? Are you trying to make it m....

Prior to yesterday, whenever we arrived at the imdb.com website there was an obvious search bar at the top of the page. Since the whole purpose of this site is to look for things. Why in God's name would they remove that feature from the pages? The only thing that seems obvious is for appearances. And that would be really stupid.

Yes, I agree, how stupid.  Clicked on this originally merge topic and comments are disabled.  Why would that be??  Had to sign up separately from IMDb for getsatisfaction in order to even comment on this.  Wow.  And there "Not a robot" verification was incredibly bad.  Had to go through like 5 or 6 screens to make sure I'm not a robot.  Are you kidding.  Search is what IMDb is all about.  I use a computer for access and the search is not at the bottom of the screen either.  I do QA testing of computer software for a living, and if this hit my testing, i assure you, it would have not made it to into production.

They must have hired a new Web Designer, who felt it was necessary to CHANGE it to a new style, without regard for the needs and preferences of the MILLIONS of users who utilize IMDB to look up casts, directors, locations or the music track, or many other useful informational bits. Make him/her FIX it, or FIRE him/her.

If you do a google search for a title or a name, it will show up on the first page of results and that will take you in the back door. We shouldn't have to do this though.
There's also a magnifying glass at the top of the page at the extreme right. If you click on it. It will allow a search. But it's not a good long term solution for me. I do a lot of noodling around on the site. Good Luck Bernadette

Seriously, you want us to do a google search for an imdb lookup.  What are you, an idiot.  I never use google, privacy concerns.  Whoever designed this should be fired.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Where has the search field gone in new design?.

The new design was rolled out today with the VERY IMPORTANT search-field made almost invisible in black background.
It's seen on a PC-screen, but disappears on tablets and phones.
Where's the search?
Why are you hiding the most important feature on imdb?
Is it to suck up to google?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled The “improved” search is not an improvement.

Previously to search, you just had to enter text at the top of the page. Thanks to the “improved” interface, you now have to click the search icon at the bottom of the page and then enter text at the top of the page. Thanks for making my life easier by adding a totally unnecessary extra step

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can’t search in new version of app.

In this version I don’t see the magnifying glass or any other way to search for titles or names. The App has gone basically useless for me even though I’m a fan of it. I use an iPhone 6s with iOS 11.1,2
Please HELP! App version is 9.17

Please move the search icon so it is next to the search textEdit field. Where ever you have the search field, top or bottom, the search icon should be right there on the same horizontal plane. I can’t think of an app on iOS or macOS that places UI controls that work together on opposing areas of the display. Imagine if this GetSatisfaction site put a search button at the bottom of all the comments (bottom of scroll view) that when clicked on required the user to scroll back up to a search textEdit box at the top. That would be ridiculous huh? Yet that’s exactly what you’ve done by moving the search icon and search field to opposing ends of the display.

Please fix this. Whatever the marketing decision or demands are upon you, push back and stick to your guns about providing an intuitive and easy to use app for your users.
