How can I find the rights to screen The Yellow Submarine (1968) and Barbarella?
Who are the distributors for these films?

Hi Qiana,

We are not able to provide screening rights for any of the films in our database. I am changing this to 'I Need to Know' to see if our other users may be able to point you in the right direction.

Best of luck!

Qiana: It makes a big difference what country you are in and what kind of venue you would be screening the films at.

In the U.S., public performance licenses for most films in non-theatrical screening locations (colleges, schools, churches, museums, hotels, jails, etc.) are administered by one of two companies: Swank Motion Pictures (https://www.swank.com/) or Criterion Pictures USA (http://www.criterionpicusa.com/). You can check each company's web site to see what films they have in their catalog.

I have confirmed that Swank has the U.S. nontheatrical rights to Barbarella, but I couldn't find who has the U.S. nontheatrical rights to Yellow Submarine; neither Criterion nor Swank has it listed in its database.

Even if you are not in the U.S. or are trying to screen the film in a theater, you may want to contact Swank, at least regarding Barbarella; they may be able to direct you to the right company to deal with.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks so much. Yes, Swank has rights to Barbarella. I called Paramount to be sure. MGM told me that the rights to screen The Yellow Submarine may now lay with the Beatles estate. I’ve contacted someone who wrote about it in a story from the BBC. Hoping they’ll respond. This was a great help.
