In last month I noticed that in the movie Novecento, surname of Robert De Niro's character was deleted. It was appeared with full name Alfredo Berlinghieri and now appears only as Alfredo. Is the only change that I noticed. Taking into account that in the movie credits doesn't appear which characters every actor portrayed, it's correct that the character appears with surname. I tried to added it several times without success.

It’s true that sometimes only the actors are listed in the end credits (and not the characters they play). Especially with some older and international movies.

I’m not sure what are the guidelines in these cases, but I would assume that ”Alfredo Berlinghieri” is accepted if his character is clearly called that in the film. Then again, if the character is mainly (only) called ”Alfredo”, then perhaps that would be a better choice. I guess it depends on the film/case.

I can’t remember all the details at the moment, but I believe the film was released as ”1900” internationally? In that case, perhaps a different (international) master was used with different end credits (which then list only ”Alfredo”)?

Yes, his full name Alfredo Berlinghieri is said several times in the movie, both for him as for his family. They were the owners of the estate Berlinghieri. Is named even more than the surnames of other characters which appear in the IMDb cast list.

Yes, the movie was released as 1900 in other countries, but I don't know either if it had different credits. The different versions that I watched (on VHS, DVD, TV or internet) was with the same credits in italian.

Hi Javier,

Thanks for posting. I can confirm that this character name has now been updated to show the surname Berlinghieri. Please allow 24 hours for this to be reflected on all areas of the site.

Thanks again.
