Can we have an ad-free option please? I'd happily pay to get rid of the irrelevant junk sliding onto the edge of my screen.

They had an ad-free version, I believe using IMDb Pro. However, Apple won't let them have it in the Apple store. See https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/imdb_pro_missing_from_app

Yes. As Kevin Smith is fond of saying "TAKE MY MONEY!" Yes. For those of us who use an iPhone 24/7, the limited real estate screams for an AD FREE PAID VERSION!!

Would you pay an annual subscription?

Of course depending on that annual fee; however a monthly subscription of say 1.99 I think would generate more one off peeks. But again let's talk numbers. I mean the site offers very concise resource for so much but again the Internet does provide it for free as well.

I would prefer a one-time fee.
Consider this: I never click (touch) ads in apps. When an ad intrudes on my app experience, it actually creates a negative impression of the brand(s)—both of the app and of the advertisers. Are ad dollars (or cents) worth degrading the overall value of your brand?
I only use the app two to three times a week, so I don't think I would pay for an ongoing subscription. How much income does my ad view bring in? Compare that to a one-time fee, and my improved impression of an ad-free experience with your brand. From a word-of-mouth perspective, I tell my friends and followers about an improved app. If the ads remain, I am unlikely to promote the app.

The annual subscription would have to be very low, as all I want to do is get rid of the ads in the app. I'm not interested in the IMDB Pro subscription and extra features that cost megabucks per month.
I'd prefer a one time fee, which I can assure you is more money than the zero you make through me not tapping on ads.
Failing that, I'd actually settle for some relevant ads and not the same on over and over and over and over.

I refuse to do any monthly/annual subscriptions besides cable/internet and cellular. I would gladly pay $1.99 for permanent ad-free viewing.

Hell no. Ads maybe earn pennies. I'll give you 2 worth...

For myself, I would be happier paying a once-only fee instead of an annual subscription.
For those who choose not to take this option, you still have the ad revenue.
There are hundreds of thousands of other apps that use this business model - with the added benefit of increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
How did imdb arrive at the conclusion that this business model will not work for them? Is this view based on evidence, or just "too hard - don't bother"??
Remember that a customer who experiences frustration every time they use your product will (sooner or later) ALWAYS take their business elsewhere. How long are you prepared to wait? Will a competitor have to arrive and take half your customer base before you change?

Same here. I'd happily pay once to remove the ads. It's a great app but the ads are irrelevant and annoying. Do better or let me remove them, for a price, of course. Cheers!

If imdb wont take our money... why not simply use an adblocker? For example: Weblock (http://www.weblockapp.com/) It blocks ads from showing up in the imdb app and just about every other app. Note: it only works if you are browsing from wifi.... unfortunately you'll still get ads when using cell data... but that's still an improvement.
To block ads (using Weblock) in the imdb app you'll need to add two custom blacklist addresses:
http://*_ad_size.*
and
http://*/mobile-ads/*

Thanks! I'm going to check it out right now. Today the IMDb app actually ADDED huge splash page ad that has to be dismissed before I can see anything. Not smart. Thanks again.

Amazing! Actually, the custom blacklist configuration was not even required when I installed Weblock just now. That must mean they have updated it to include those kind of ad server URLs.

Seriously, I have money. I want to give you money. Let me pay you to stop these stupid, intrusive, ads.
Really, it's getting ridiculous now. Why are ignoring another Revenue stream? Clearly there are MANY of us that would pay to stop seeing that crap and haVing it ruin the app experience.
I'm most annoyed by that fact that this had been an issue customers have complained about since day one and had never been addressed.

Add free version! Figure the price out IMDb, if it’s over 3 bucks count me out. You can still make add rev on the web site.

Guess it's time to switch to using an ad blocker plus Firefox (unlike Chrome on Android that can't have add-ons). Personally I like uBlock Origin. Open source, has lots of options and control but 'just works' as installed. Even have versions for Chrome too.

There are way too many ads in this app. It is nearly unusable. Please at least offer a paid version. The user experience seems very un-Amazon

I would also pay up to around $5 (one time fee) to remove ads from the app. It's certainly more money than you're currently making from me since I never click ads.

Yeah, totally! I mean, how come everything in the whole wide world isn't just free? I'm gonna tell all my friends, or rather not tell all my friends, and then you'll see!

What are you even talking about? This suggestion is to let people *pay* for the app.

Exactly! I want to pay for a better experience. Until then I'll carry on blocking as many ads in apps as I can.

Other apps have this kind of option. You can download the app for free, and then pay a couple of dollars to remove the ads. Can you consider adding this functionality to the IMDB app?
I prefer to pay for ad-free apps. Ad banners are a distraction for the user that is focusing on the movie that they are researching.
Thanks for listening.
