Recommendations

Why is there NOT an option to "Opt Out" of recommendations? They're highly inaccurate and almost always irrelevant. Just because I watched movie "A" and liked it is zero indication of how I will like movie "B." If I put something in my Watchlist, how can you recommend something based on it when, most likely, I've never seen it. In that scenario there's a very good chance you're now recommending movies I WON'T like, if by chance I don't like the movie in my Watchlist. Also, basing MY recommendations on OTHER member ratings is not the way to recommend anything. I am NOT them and they are NOT me. Not to mention that any and all ratings on IMDb are, for the most part, meaningless and subjective. Jane Doe may highly rate all the movies with her favorite actor while ignoring the fact the movies were all box office bombs (It happens ALL the time.)
tl:dr - Let me turn off your unwanted, highly irrelevant "recommendations."

Hi MuvieNutt,You won’t be able to turn off recommendations at this time, but I was sure to share this feedback with the team for consideration in future updates. In the meantime, you can rate suggestions “irrelevant” if you deem them so.

This is also a problem in other well-known sites. They are rarely helpful so I usually just ignore them.

Greetings, Mr. or Ms. MuvieNutt,
I hope that you'll understand my addressing you in that manner.  It's only because I'm unsure as to whether you're either a "male" or a "female".  You see, in the past I've made that same mistake on other social media sites: mistaking a female member for a "male" member by calling that person "dude", and vice versa.  And I don't want to make the same mistakes on here, you dig?

Anyways, in regards to your recent comment about how you'd like there to be an option to "OPT-OUT" of "RECOMMENDATIONS" somewhere on IMDb.com or even on IMDb?  Well, I'm afraid that I don't know exactly how to respond or what proper answer to give you.  However, there is something that I might be able to help you with, if you require it that is.  You were also saying in your comment some things about "WATCHLISTS", and how you would rate a movie that you've seen and would probably put it on a watchlist or something.  Well, MUVIENUTT, again I'm not sure if this is what you want from me, but I'll take a chance anyways and help you out.  Here is a web-link of my IMDb WATCHLIST, and it's in alphabetized order, and it should give you an idea on what kinds of movies and T.V. shows I like and how I rate them:

https://www.imdb.com/user/ur82873564/watchlist?sort=alpha%2Casc&view=detail

And also, if there is anything else that I can do to help you in this area, or if you have any questions to ask me in regards to this subject, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me, okey-dokey?  In the meantime, take good care of yourself, and have a nice day now, you hear?

(It would be fine to simply omit the salutatory titles from pseudonyms, rather than stumbling around trying to guess which one is most appropriate.)

I hear what you're saying, Jeorj, and I read you loud and clear.  It's just that I was brought up to be courteous and polite and all that silly stuff when I'm chatting with other people on sites such as this one, if you get my drift.  LOL!

"How does IMDb choose the titles in the Recommended for you feature?

We take all of the movies and TV shows that you have either rated or added to your Watchlist and then compare your data to ratings made by other IMDb users. We can then find movies and TV shows that people with similar tastes to you like. For each recommendation, you can see a list of the movies or TV shows upon which the recommendation was based. You have either rated these titles highly, or added them to your Watchlist."

This is a flat out lie. I have no movie or TV shows rated and I never use the Watchlist. There is ZERO reason for me to be seeing recommendations per your information. Interestingly, though, they've actually INCREASED recently with a vast number of recommendations being Bollywood "movies." I have never seen a Bollywood film let alone rated or added one to the watchlist. So quit blowing smoke!

Steve: marking them "irrelevant" (Remove this title from recommendations) is pointless as the titles just keep reappearing later making this "feature" completely useless.

Digger: Mr, Ms, etc.: seriously? It's a chat board. Nobody cares, and giving a paragraph explaining your salutation was unnecessary. Having and using a pseudonym e.g. Muvienutt, means there is no need for salutations and provides anonymity.

Seriously?
Recommendations section is "THERE"
I have the willpower to not notice it!
Are you saying that you are incapable of "IGNORING" it?
Please, do you have any idea how silly this "IDEA" "QUESTION" post is.

And this post is. You are beating a dead horse. Nothing is gonna change.
STOP WITH THE STUPID & UNWANTED "RECOMMENDED FOR YOU" MOVIE & TV TITLES!

How about you STOP WITH THE.................................

Thanks
