Would be nice to have a rating graph to see how a TV shows imdb rating has changed over time.

Not only TV shows but movies as well. Yes, it would be very fun to see rating history and even IMDb top 250 history/peak positions on the detailed rating page.

It would be nice to have these kind of graphs available. This presupposes that IMDb has at least recorded the date of each vote so they could reconstruct the ratings history.

Although this is not hosted on IMDb, there are at least three web sites that record and display the ratings history of the IMDb Top 250:

IMDb Top250.Informer
Titles of the IMDb Top 250
All titles of the IMDb Top 250 since September 1997

So not only would I like to see what you guys are talking about, but I think it would be really cool to see how  individual ratings change over time...As a person ages, are they starting to rate genres differently...A possible example, when someone is 17, they are rating slap stick movies a lot and very high...than as they age, they are rating more dramas and period pieces and giving these movies high ratings...

I created a small page to visualise exactly this. It doesn't capture all historical rating data exhaustively (since that data is not in public domain). You can check it here: https://yathish1618.github.io/imdb-rating-history-graph/

How and from where exactly, are you getting this data?

Basically I'm pulling data from archives of the IMDb pages at Waybackmachine.org. You can go through the read me if you're interested in the technicalities.

@XIIIX and @Bon Vin, I have fixed the page now. The issue was that archive.org's api stopped working. I missed the notification to your comments. Feel free to message me on reddit or github if you want me to resolve any future issues faster.

Hi, I have created a page for visualising exactly this as mentioned in my previous comment -
https://yathish1618.github.io/imdb-rating-history-graph/

Since then I have also made two more pages that you might find interesting -
  1. IMDB Top 250 - This shows how the titles have been changing over the years within each year's Top 250.
  2. IMDB Rating Demographics - This show age wise distribution in rating of titles.
If you face any issue with the pages or if you have any ideas/suggestions please use the report issue button at the bottom of the page or message me on reddit, or simply drop a comment here.

Wow man! Loved the evolution of the IMDB Top 250. I’ve been consulting the list so many years and I didn’t notice so many changes. Thanks a lot for this. Really appreciated it.
I checked with different browsers and the rating history graph page is not working right now.

@XIIIIX Hey, thanks so much for the feedback man! The rating history graph page is working for me - I checked on Chrome and Firefox browsers on desktop as well as Chrome on Android. I checked for a few movies like Dark Knight, Titanic and The Gentlemen. Can you please tell me what exactly do you mean by "not working"? Just a silly clarification that you have to click on "Submit" after you search and select the movie from the search box. Hitting Enter/Return key on your keyboard won't work..

Hi! I finally got it working on the desktop version of Chrome. The graph showed but empty, it didn't fetch any data. Amazing job man! Really interesting to analyze how love/hate for some movies and series evolve. I can't believe that Watchmen (2019) started with 6.9. Such fun! Love it! Thanx a lot!
