Question/Issue about Credit Removal and STARmeter Rankings

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue removing an actress, Nicole A. Randall, from my project's IMDb page; there was a scheduling conflict, and she had to drop out from the project. I submitted the changes through the page like I've done a few dozen times, and didn't receive any errors once I provided an explanation for the deletion. However, it's been about a week now, and the original actress is still listed, while the new actress brought on isn't. Should I be waiting longer?

At first, I thought maybe it has to due with the original actress' STARmeter ranking. I don't know if IMDb's curators stop allowing general users from updating an actor/actress' credits once they reach a certain level of notoriety. Is that the case?

If so, how might I go about getting the actresses swapped? Ms. Randall is going to attempt to remove herself via her account, in case that's the issue, but if it's not, is there something else I could try?

Thanks for the help!

Re:  STARmeter, no that's not the case. Users can still submit their credits.

As to how long, that would usually be long enough, but in general, updates can take from 2 days to 2 weeks.  So it could still be processing.  They'd probably be scrutinizing the submission.  Did you submit it as a change and not a deletion, then an addition?  It's always better to submit a correction.  Deletions are tough to get approved. You should post in this thread the submission ID number and staff can check on status and let you know if anything is needed.  Do you have any documents that can be sent as evidence?  That would help. You can add evidence here in the thread as well, or upload a scan to a pic hosting site and send a link on the credit verification form http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_verification .  "Dropbox" is also very good for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply! The submission ID number is 140207-134008-351000. What I did is hit the "Correct/Delete" option, selected to delete the original actress and gave an explanation, checked the updates, got the green light, and then selected "Add 1 Credit" from the drop down box as well. So I both removed the original actress and added the new one in the same submission.

As for documentation, what would they need? She dropped from the project in a rather informal manner as we know each other pretty well, so nothing was done through her management team or anything like that. She just let me know about the scheduling conflicts and that was pretty much it.

It still might be processing.  I'd leave it as is for now and see what staff says about status of your submission and if anything more is needed.

It might need to be re-submitted at some point as a simple correction, by going to the title's page and correcting 1 credit, entering the name of the new actress so it get moved from one page to the other, then explaining what happened.  Submitting anything new until we see what the status is might slow the process even more.

According to the Data Processing Times page, Cast (non-TV) has only been completely processed through 06 February 2014 with 4,907 items still unprocessed, so it is possible that your item is still in the queue. And once items are processed it can take a while for the result to show up on the display pages.

Also, I have found that Deletes often are slower than other changes. Adds are usually processed first (assuming they are not New names), followed by Updates, with Deletes bringing up the rear. At least that is how it has often appeared to me when I submitted all three types in a single submission.

Thanks for the help, guys! The issue has been resolved; I guess I just needed to wait longer. Good to know that deletions can take longer.
