So I submitted data for a production i just worked on only to find that my partner already recently put it up himself.  Will the data mangaers of IMDB be able to connect 2 and 2 together and ignore my submission or do i need to contact them to let them know not to put up my copy of the submission?

They might catch it.  You could also post the submission ID here and staff here can alert the page editors. It's the 18 digit number starting with a date, in the form (if today, for example) 140522-999999-999999, from your settings section at "View your contributions ."

If the data in both submissions is largely the same then the Data Managers should see it is the same. If they do create two separate pages, it is usually fairly easy to merge them,  so either way I wouldn't worry; just wait and see what happens.
