I like the thinking on both, both are Top five contenders, Kids movies have a lot legs and this one has a lot of pent-up demand due to the time between the sequel and both how popular and acclaimed the original was. Infinity War has eighty superheroes and likely is the safest bet for the top spot, plus how it plays overseas will be a big factor. Still, I think it is anyone's race.

I think this is an interesting premise, given IMDB used a publish a weekly version. I can see five 2018 films breaking $1.1 billion needed in worldwide box office to break onto  the top twenty-five worldwide box office all-time grossing list. If you are going to publish a poll like this, I would recommend doing so before Avengers: Infinity War (2018) debuts at the end of April and Summer Blockbuster season is upon us. While it is always anybody's race Avengers: Infinity War was a heavy favorite. Black Panthers continues to make the race interesting. The film has exceeded expectations and continues to add to its totals and breaking box office records along the way. Will another franchise film unexpected emerge or a start-up surprise????

2018 Worldwide Box Office Battle Royale Snapshot (as of 26 March 2018)
Thee films have crossed the 1/2 billion threshold already including two dark horses. Black Panther is #12 in All-Time Worldwide Box Office after six weeks and will almost assuredly break into the top ten with needing only $40 million more.

1 12 Black Panther BV $1,237.3 $630.9 51.0% $606.4 49.0% 2018
2 156 Operation Red Sea WGUSA $552.8 $1.5 0.3% $551.3 99.7% 2018
3 172 Detective Chinatown 2 WB $531.9 $2.0 0.4% $530.0 99.6% 2018
4 306 Fifty Shades Freed Uni. $367.9 $100.2 27.2% $267.7 72.8% 2018
5 324 Monster Hunt 2 LGF $357.6 $706k 0.2% $356.9 99.8% 2018
6 469 Maze Runner: The Death Cure Fox $283.3 $57.7 20.4% $225.6 79.6% 2018
7 583 Paddington 2 WB $237.0 $40.4 17.1% $196.6 82.9% 2018

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) no longer qualifies for 2018.  Plus it will likely won't do much better than X-Men: Apocalypse (2016).  It will make its money back and a little profit ... but it won't smash the box office bank rolls.

Operation Red Sea (2018) is at $568m.  Where else would it be released to pick up the $700m to catch up to Black Panther?  Not the US market.  It will likely get a very very limited release here... oh wait.  It's limited release in the US has already been passed this February.  This one has no legs in the box office challenge.

Voted for the safe (uninspired) bet of Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

And Ready Player One already released didn't come out monstrous enough to be even considered a contender to break $1 billion.

Thanks, I will add a note "X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled for release in the United States on February 14, 2019. It was previously set to be released on November 2, 2018."

As for the list it is intended to be a list of movies in the conversation for contending for the worldwide box office title "These movies are each projected to have a worldwide box office of between $1.5 billion and $0.5 billion with at least one top ten box office finish predicted from an industry source." The clearly stated minimum is 0.5 billion projected worldwide box office to be considered or in the conversation.

The last four X-Men franchise films each did between $500 million and $800 million and the trend has been mostly upward over the life of franchise. I don't see any reason why X-Men: Dark Phoenix wouldn't exceed the X-Men: Apocalypse Fox worldwide box office total of $543,934,787 to qualify for being in the conversation.

10 Logan Fox Worldwide:  $619,021,436   3/3/17
9 X-Men: Apocalypse Fox Worldwide:  $543,934,787 5/27/16
8 Deadpool Fox Worldwide:  $783,112,979 2/12/16
7 X-Men: Days of Future Past Fox Worldwide:  $747,862,775  5/23/14
6 The Wolverine Fox Worldwide:  $414,828,246   7/26/13
5 X-Men: First Class Fox Worldwide:  $653,624,124 6/3/11
4 X-Men Origins: WolverineFoxWorldwide:$373,062,8645/1/09
3 X-Men: The Last Stand Fox Worldwide:  $459,359,555   5/26/06
2 X2: X-Men United Fox Worldwide:  $407,711,549   5/2/03
1 X-Men Fox Worldwide:  $296,339,527   7/14/00

Likewise,  Ready Player One  did $200 million its first week and should cross the $0.5 billion threshold by the end of initial worldwide run.

I also agree Avengers: Infinity War (2018).is the favorite to win, but anything can happen and things sometimes don't play out according to plan. Assuming it matches the original Avengers (a big If) it still falls behind a Star Wars and Jurassic Park franchise films in the ranks, both of which have editions out this Summer too. I wouldn't discount the pent-up demand for the long awaited Incredibles sequel either. The first one did $633,019,734 worldwide and could double that total based on the Toy Story franchises doubling its box office after a similiar ten year hiatus.

1 Avatar Fox $2,788.0 $760.5 27.3% $2,027.5 72.7% 2009^
2 Titanic Par. $2,187.5 $659.4 30.1% $1,528.1 69.9% 1997^
3 Star Wars: The Force Awakens BV $2,068.2 $936.7 45.3% $1,131.6 54.7% 2015
4 Jurassic World Uni. $1,671.7 $652.3 39.0% $1,019.4 61.0% 2015
5 Marvel's The Avengers BV $1,518.8 $623.4 41.0% $895.5 59.0% 2012

Plus, I wouldn't be so dismissive of Chinese films either. So far, this year two out the top three worldwide grossing films are Chinese films, I can't wait to see what their big Summer releases will do. I wouldn't be surprised to see in the not too distant future as many Chinese blockbusters as American ones. It seems China is just getting started as the three highest grossing Chinese films of all-time have been released in the past nine months, each grossing between 500 million and 900 million. China has a population of 1.4 billion domestically and just shy of 2 billion Chinese people worldwide; it doesn't need the US market to put a film on the worldwide box office list, unlike the USA, it can do it all on it own.

1 Black Panther BV $1,280.9 $654.2 51.1% $626.7 48.9% 2018
2 Operation Red Sea WGUSA $568.0 $1.5 0.3% $566.5 99.7% 2018
3 Detective Chinatown 2 WB $531.9 $2.0 0.4% $530.0 99.6% 2018

The race is likely a realistic five way race with Avengers just as likely to lose to the other four as it is to exceed their box office totals, but I still contend a10-20% chance that another film will emerge from the pack to beat the lead group.
