Whenever I’m planning a trip I love to see if there are any movies filmed or set there. And even if I’m not planning a trip, nothing satisfies wanderlust more than a movie full of quaint towns and beautiful scenery (even if only for a little while)!

Below is a list of movies that will inspire you to travel to a certain city, or have an interesting journey.

Which of the following movies did you enjoy the most?

Thank you for suggestion. But I think it's better to include only movies because there are lot of movies that could inspire you to travel and most of them won't make to the list, including also documentaries would just make it worse.

A Room with a View - I actually went to the Duomo and Santa Croce (and maybe even Florence itself) because of that movie.

My first thought when seeing the suggestion title was Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain. Nice to see it as a very first option!

FYC:
Bienvenue à bord! (1990) (an amazing and unfortunately little known French movie which is like a much lighter black comedy answer/anti-thesis to The Hitcher)
Hannibal (2001)
Paris, je t'aime (2006)

Nikolay, I don't think Bienvenue à bord! (1990) wouldn't be good option to include to the list because it has only 56 votes, so no one would vote for it.

I haven't seen Hannibal, but imaging The Silence of the Lambs I don't know if it would really inspire someone to travel. So if you really think it's a good choice to include to the list, let me know.

Paris, je t'aime, is added to the list. I forgot all about it, great suggestion.

Thank you.

Hannibal has almost an entirely different collection of settings from Silence of the Lambs. It's almost like night and day, in terms of the locations and ambiance. Consider the very last scene of Silence of the Lambs and realize that it is kind of a lead-in to the sequel.

Jeorj Euler is very much alive. One of the central themes in The Silence was being trapped and getting out of predicament. One of the major themes in Hannibal, on the contrary is being free and on the run. It rapidly changes locations and all of them are great and cinematic.

It really instated a wish to visit Florence in my case at some point in life.

Migjen,

For your consideration:
If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969)

I would treat these two films as one choice:
National Lampoon's Vacation
(1983)  and
National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985)

One could argue, that these two films could inspire someone to avoid travel.

I added both of them as one option.

About If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium (1969), I added to the list, but if the list is full and there are better suggestion, I might remove since it doesn't have much votes.

Thank again.

This is the most thoughtless and stupid list I have ever seen.  It starts as "inspire you to travel" and quickly becomes "pick a favorite among this arbitrary lump of movies that have nothing in common."

The poll description may be problematic but the subject heading "Films That Will Inspire You to Travel" is very clear as to the meaning or spirit of the list. So what, if the contents are arbitrary? Most polls are that way.

I chose "The Way(2010)", starring Martin Sheen and his real-life son, Emilio Estevez, even though the film was #16 in the polls, because I didn't care for the first three films that had the highest votes in the polls.  I also would've chosen "The Bucket List(2007)", with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.  These two films would inspire me to do some traveling.

The Great Race  (1965)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059243/
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059243/reference

The Great Leslie, convinces turn-of-the-century auto makers
that a race from New York to Paris
(westward across America, the Bering Straight and Russia)
will help to promote automobile sales.

Tony Curtis   ...  The Great Leslie
Natalie Wood   ...  Maggie Dubois
Jack Lemmon   ...  Professor Fate
Peter Falk   ...  Maximilian Meen

Trivia
This movie is based on an actual event that took place in 1908.
On February 12, the "Greatest Auto Race" began with six entrants,
starting in New York City and racing westward
across three continents to Paris.
However, the film is a comedy and only the race route
and the era of the race are accurate.
