Which 'Star Trek' character, in comparison to the original cast crew, do you think benefited the most (or was the least downgraded, if a Star Trek purist) from its recasting?

See the list of featured Star Trek actors with a shared character here: IMAGE http://www.imdb.com/list/ls063081232/ or GRID http://www.imdb.com/list/ls063081232/?start=1&view=grid&sort=listorian:asc

Sulu and Uhara benfitted,

Spock degraded. Zachary Quinto is playing him too emotionless and cardboard. Even Nimitz found ways to put some emotion into the character. Remember he is half human. It ether that or the other actors playing Valcans around Quinto are not being emotionless enough to allow Quinto to show Spock's repressed human side by comparison - A.K.A. for Quinto to show how Spock is different from other Vulcans.

I agree with you, those are probably the two clearest choices. Although, I like Nichelle Nichols and George Takei, I think talent-wise, it is a clear upgrade. Others, it is less clear, some are debatable or not a upgrade at all or just different rather than being better. Your comment about Zachary Quinto, although extremely talented, I thought the same too, when I saw the first reboot that he was too emotionless, especially for someone in love with Uhara, It didn't make any sense to me either.

I agree. BTW, I did mean to say "Nimoy ". It is funny that the auto correct thought that I was referring to the name of an U.S.S. aircraft carrier and a WW2 admiral. LOL.

i am one of those people who believe that the 'reboot' certainly isn't part of the canon...they are just playthings for the younger generation...like appletinis...they're not real martinis...just 'playthings'...

so...having said that...i would say mccoy benefited...not that urban is an upgrade by any means...just, well...he's the least annoying of the changes...

the worst...chris pine...he is atrocious as kirk...what a terrible choice and, if these films actually mattered, which they don't, certainly defames the name james tiberius kirk...

I agree, I am not an Urhan fan per se, but there are things I think they both do better than other, as well as, thing that annoy more than other. I feel the mixed bag sentiment. Just curious, who would do you think could have done the role of  James Tiberius Kirk justice or is it an impossible task?

8th September, 2019 will be...Star Trek Day

In my case, I only watched a few New Generation episodes as a kid, and never knew anything of the original Star Trek until long after that.

The remake film was my first contact with the original characters, and so I had no way of comparing them and knew if they did it good. Last year I finally started watching the original series (I have seen 2 out of 3 seasons) but they were the last version I get to met.

With this on mind, I must say the characters from the movie that I best remember are Spock, Chejov and Uhura. While Quinto was good, Nimoy is perfect and I wouldn't dare voting for him.

Chejov seems like not a great character in the series, and I feel his role is better in the movie, so he gets my vote.
